Considering that most of the people harassing this thread are no older than 20, don't you think that it's a bit harsh to take malicious joy in telling them to "enjoy hell"? That's not the sort of thing Jesus would say in this situation, is it?

However, to the people here from 4chan (or wherever else you're coming from), I understand that this is a fun prank to you, but I hope that you don't truly think you're justified in telling these people that they're wrong. Even if you, yourselves, don't believe that a video game can affect your judgement, unless any of you have kids of your own, you really can't have any meaningful input on raising children. I admit that I enjoy media that, as a Christian, I should deny. Perhaps I'll even burn for it. However, despite my own sinful ways, I have absolutely no intention of exposing my (future) children to it.

Even if you do not believe in God, you must understand that a large portion of the world firmly believes that that such blatant demonic media could corrupt and damn their children. Regardless of who's right, shouldn't these people be allowed the means to shield their children from it?

Bystander, I appreciate the majority of your sentiment. Many of these misguided people seem to think we are judgemental or hateful in our thinking, but it's because we want to save people from Hell and accept Jesus. We do it out of love. And as Brother Myron quoted Scripture, Jesus has said many times you will burn in hell if you don't follow Him.

This is more than a harmless video game. It is a gateway to allowing evil into your life. As a True Christian(tm) televangelist and father, I cannot stand idly by and watch this video game sell like hotcakes. I care about our nation's youth.

Myself I have moved on to better things like Fallout 3, another great Bethesda game if you feel like Oblivion just doesn't do it for you anymore check out Fallout 3.

Thank you for the tip. I will be sure to check out this game. If it was made by the same people who did Oblivion, God knows what kind of disgusting, violent, sexually depraved Satanic content it contains.

What I did find most offending was when i read that if you do not go to your baptist church your are going to hell I don't remember reading where Jesus said you must go to Landover Baptist Church. More so than that is what I read about exorcising Homosexual Demons.

We at Landover are assured of our place in Heaven because we follow the Bible 100%, word-for-word, and do not twist Scripture, add anything to it,or leave any of it out. The Bible makes it abundantly clear that we must follow all of it.

2) Yes, not scientific reports per se, but a wealth of witness testimony and anecdotal evidence.

Greetings brothers and sisters in Christ,

It has come to my attention that the Satanic Cults which plague this country are using video games yet again as a tool to recruit young, impressionable children into their world of sin and rebellion against Our One True Lord Jesus Christ. I visited my niece in Los Angeles the other day, and she is the type of false Christian that thinks you can pick and choose what you want from the Bible like it's the Salad Bar at Sizzler. It turns out her teenage son is playing a game on his computer called Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.


After watching him play this game for an hour, I was appalled, no, downright shocked at what the content of this game provides. Here is a little summary of what I witnessed with very eyes...

• It is a "Role-Playing Game" for the computer, very similar to the well-known Satanic Dungeons & Dragons.
• You can pick various "races" for your character, including several demonic looking characters called "elves". With their pointed ears and eerie non-human appearances, it allows children to pretend they are a demon themselves.
• The game is chockful of blasphemous magic and witchcraft. The player is able to perform a variety of spells such as hurling fire from one's hands, turning oneself invisible, forcing others' against their will to obey and listen to the character, and conjuring up demons from Hell to fight for the player. In fact, magic and witchcraft are a major part of the game and it's difficult to play the game without resorting to these Satanic means.
• The game makes no mention of God or Jesus Christ, instead it pushes a mythology of "Nine gods". You can go to heretical chapels and actually pray to these gods in this game and they heal you!
• There is a realm called "Oblivion" which is definitely just Hell with a different name. You are required to go through this Hell environment during the game.
• Thieving and stealing are promoted in the game. You are allowed to pickpocket other people and steal possessions. One questline of the game actually REWARDS the player for this sinful behavior!
• You can do quests for these demons called "Daedra". By doing these quests, these demons reward you. This tells our children that by serving demons they will get rewarded.
• Alcohol in the form of beer, wine, and brandy is available to the player and can be drunk.
• This game promotes astrology. Upon creating a character, you are forced to choose a "birthsign". More occult ideas pushed upon the impressionable player.
• There are vampires in the game and a few of them are portrayed as "good guys".

This is just what I gathered watching my grandnephew play this game, and there's no telling what more is embedded in this despicable video game. Personally, I've seen enough! There is so much witchcraft, magic, satanism, polytheism, and blasphemy in this game, it could easily turn a good Christian child away from God. We all know the effects of video games.

It is well-understood that playing that demon-worshipping game "Doom" caused those two kids, Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris to do the Columbine shootings. Yet, a game like Doom only had a handful what Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion offers. What kind of unimaginable crimes will come out of impressionable teenagers playing this game? Or, even there is no violent effects from it, how many children will be led away from Jesus Christ and accept Satanism as their religion?

This video game needs to be taken off the shelves of every store right now. It is harmful and a cancer on society. Every parent out there reading this needs to call up their local store which sells this vile Satanic propoganda tool and demand this "game" be banned. You owe it to yourself as a Christian, and most importantly....you owe it to your child.

I try to contain myself, but its people like this who think that all these games are real, the shootings an columbine were a result of people taking a GAME to seriously. it is a game, if you dont want to use magic become a warrior and fight for the salvation of Tamriel from the realms of oblivion. i can understand your reluctance to like this game due to its support of a polytheistic set of beliefs. but please understand the game before you damn it! if you open your eyes youcan see that this game promotes the idea of being strong and fighting for the salvation of your race! yes, this game does include alcohol, however drinking alcohol causes the player to loses ability's. just as it does in real life. i played through the entire game without ever once drinking alcohol, and no where in the game does it ever promote the drinking of such a substance! as far as vampires: excuse me for the game being christain and judging people for their morality and not what they physically are, a christain who has lost his legs in an unfortunate accident is no less of a christian. on that basis i argue that vampireism was an unforunate accident that happened upon the count of skingrad. please tell me where i am wrong.there is much more i could say about this game. it is an amazing work of art as far as games go. the game is what you make of it, how you control your character in this free environment is up to you, and will ultimatly show your own character. so dont punish those of us who can play the game and stay free of temptation because there are those out there with sin in their hearts.

You are missing the point. Oblivion is dangerous; Bob's gun shop is not. The reason being is that everyone who purchases firearms from him (and I highly recommend it, I got a nice Colt .357 Magnum revolver from him last month) is that we are all good, decent, moral True Christians(tm) who only use our guns for hunting, target-shooting, collection, or self-defense.

On the other hand, many of the players of Oblivion are depressed and neurotic teenagers who have difficulty understanding reality. The game really affects them psychologically and they react by becoming Satanists, or killing cats like that one kid in Florida, or at the worst: School shootings. Remember the Virginia Tech shooter? He was obsessed with Counter-Strike.

I'm a gamer, i got the game.
I play it, it doesnt have "magic", its just a game about a nuclear war which killed all, and only people alive were in the vaults, the artist is a comedic type and the game is extremely fun.
The only thing i can see you doing about it is promoting violence, and maybe that church that worshipped the bomb as a joke i guess you'd get joy out of using your pit-boy and aiming for the guys head and shooting him so theyd all run and stop worshipping it ay? because guess what, YOU CAN DO THAT, its called CHOICE AND FREEDOM.
And before about runescape, hey guess what, the "Sex" thing you saw in it, it was children messing around, i dont like it either when i use to play, but it wasnt the developers fault, there is no "Sex" emote, its children using the emote "Bend" and then another child stands behind and maybe uses bend.
The game is child safe, it's doing all it can to make it more fun, violence just happens to be one thing, but not all games do violence, but it seems to be the only thing i can find fun, except for things like peggle.

Yes, but they are merely developers, they may have one game which you see as unjust, but they have many others which do not promote fallout 3, its not a full out blown war when it comes to "Evil and good", there are no gods except for what a certain group believes the bomb in the middle of a town is god, that may be seen as making fun to you, but i can see it happening in real life, its not making fun as there are some even more stupid religions than that, and it does not directly relate to your religion.

There may be violence, but to be honest, some people NEED to play those games, they need to escape from reality, they like the freedom to have any choice they want, to be anything they want, many people do not believe in your religion, they do not have a way to release the anger, if they did not have a way
Do you think these games may have actually stopped more than they have started?
A few school killings, to what could have been more without these games, a way to release anger.
I know people that play theese games to just, release the anger because they have alot of stress.
It does not mean they'll go on a school killing, it may actually prevent it in some cases, where some cases it may have been opposite.


But not all games by this developer is in this nature, and you should see because they have this one game that may be against you, it did not have anything against you, gesh, i play the game and i dont think about it being demonic, or good, i like my restoration spells so i can live longer, the side that wins in the long run is good, and you are a fighter against evil mainly.
Sure there are a few races which arnt human, but that shows its a game, i dont see night elfs in the bible, but mind you, i havint read it enough to know.

I can see some people taking that into perspective and really believing in this, but is that only because they wish to escape the real world as it is causing them much pain?

These games have helped me alot, they allow me to get rid of anger, and help me deal with stress.

It sounds like you are saying these video games are trying to provide some spiritual fulfillment on the part of people. Son, don't you know the Bible can provide all that for you? You may feel stressed or angry, but flip open the Good Book and read the Word of God(c) and you will melt in happiness that God is preparing a way for you to enter the Kingdom of Heaven! Putting video games before God is against what He wants. He did after all warn us not to worship false idols. Paul also warned us to stay away from negative influences....

1st Corinthians 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

You are yet another poster to have praised this "Fallout 3" game. This is definitely something I will look into. I fear that if Satan-worshipping teenagers that love Oblivion are also playing this game, perhaps this game is just as bad as this Olbivion game?
