Mock God, no. Mock haters, yes. You claim you don't hate anyone, God does. What a pile. Let me ask you this, two people, one is a Christian who prays every day of his life but is weak and gives in to temptation, drink & drugs. But after each sin they go to their church and they repent. The other person is agnostic, like me. They believe there is a higher being but they are not convinced about the teachings of any major religion. They spend their entire life being good, helping people, being kind, loving and protecting their family. So by your way of thinking, are you telling me that God will take the first man into Heaven with open arms and the second man, who has never done anything wrong other than not praying will spent the remainder of eternity burning in the fires of hell? What do you think?

How do you know that god hates them? It may say so in the King James Bible but you forget that the bible was written my man. Man who is not flawless. It has also been translated thousands of times. I was texting my cousin in Germany the other day, I speak German, and I missed the umlaut (the two dots above a vowel) over a letter "o" in one word and it totally changed the entire meaning of the sentence I was writing to her.

Personally I believe that God intended for there to be gay people. I'm not gay myself but I have no problem with gay people. Why? Because the population of this world is increasing way too fast. I deal with young people from bad backgrounds in my job. You know how many underage pregnancies I have had to deal with? Gay couples cannot have children. I think God is trying to slow down the ridiculous population explosion before there is not enough room, food or water for everyone.

It took 123 years for the population to go from 1 to 2 billion, between 1804 and 1927. It took only 12 years to go from 5 to 6 billion people, between 1987 and 1999.

With growth rates like that I say let the gays flourish. Besides, in a town with mostly gay guys, I'm a lot more likely to meet the woman I will one day marry since there is a lot less competition.

Let me explain myself. It is obvious from many of the opinions here that many of you are not computer gamers. This game is a type of game called a sandbox game. It is called that because there is no set path through the game. You can build your character as you see fit, kind of like building a sand castle, hence the name.

When I played the game, I built up a knight character. And I played the game as a knight in shining armor. I went around the beautiful world that Bethesda Software created and vanquished evil and brought about justice and helped the people in the game.

As a knight made of sand?

One scenario in the game springs to mind. In the game I came across a band of pilgrims out in the woods. They were trying to start a new community until a horde of goblins set upon them and stole their equipment preventing them from continuing. So I rode out on my horse, killed the goblins and returned their belongings.

Days later while playing the game I happened to ride past the same spot as I was on my way to another city and I found the place where I met the pilgrims. Instead of just forest, I found the beginnings of a town which was being built by the characters in the game and I was thanked for my help.

How do you know you didn't just help establish a colony of Satanic cannibal Islamofascists or, worse, $cientologists? Maybe God was using those goblins to prevent them building their sweatshop and brainwashing center, and instead you enabled them to indoctrinate millions.

I wrote that I am not a Christian. I did not write that I come from a family comprising of all non-Christians. I have many close relatives who are Christians and I work as a support worker for a homeless charity of whom the employees are mostly Christian.

I have had many constructive debates with many Christians and have never yet caused offense to any of them because I respect their beliefs and they respect mine. I believe in God, but maybe not in quite the same way that you do.

Therefore I reject your insult that I am arrogant for trying to define what offends you because I have done no such thing. In my statement that you quoted I merely made a statement of the fact that my intention was simply to put another view across about a subject (the game) that I have played from start to finish, but in a way that does not call into question any of your belief.

I find those images from the "game" to be repulsive, and I wish someone would remove them. Especially the last one which is covered in insects. That is obviously Satanic. The others depict a barren Apocalyptic, Dark Age wasteland and a man carrying instruments of death. They should be replaced with something more peaceful, like scenes from the Passion of the Christ(c).

We, as True Christians(tm), have a RIGHT and a DUTY to FORBID other people from playing games that have nothing to do with Jesus(tm). Games without Jesus(tm) are just tools of the Devil(tm) intended to draw you away from matters of import, namely, those matters discussed in the KJV1611(c).

I just wanted to clarify something. The reason the post above is my first post and I did not post an introduction thread is because I am not a Christian. Someone sent me a link to this thread as they knew that I enjoyed playing the game Oblivion.

I read through the posts in this thread and I felt that there were many people with no real experience of this type of computer game commenting but there did not seem to be anyone representing the view of the average person who enjoys the computer game and has seen good parts to it as well as the so called "Evil" things that have been complained about.

I was very careful in my wording because, while I am not a Christian myself, I did not wish to offend anyone because I respect people's rights to their beliefs.

What I did not expect is the private message I received from Felicity regarding my post. I paste it below as I was under the impression that the USA believed in freedom of speech. I guess I was mistaken.

As a person who quite regularly plays computer games I wanted to voice a different viewpoint on the game that seems to have cause 38 pages of argument.

I have played Oblivion and the expansions for it. I played them start to finish. Now some of you may feel that I should be burned at the stake for that but I ask you this. What is evil, the game or people's actions within it?

This game is simply the exploration of a fantasy world that has sprung from the imagination of a person. How a person chooses to act within that imaginary world is another matter.

Forget the game for a minute. If you give me a gun, I might choose to shoot a deer and feed my family. If you give the gun to a member of a notorious street gang they may choose to shoot another person for no reason at all.

So I ask again, what is evil? The gun? Or is it the person's actions with that gun?

I leave you with a few other scenes from the game from that game. Those who shun the game because of one picture are missing out on the beautiful scenes that can be found within it.

Actually, you don't need magic to win. Technically, you can't "win" It's almost a sandbox game, which is why it's so awesome. Daedric and silver weapons can harm spirits, and you can learn alchemy, which lets you pick up common plants, and make just about any potion on the fly.

Besides, about the Nine Divine, you don't have to believe in them, like Strakk said. And of course you're going to take a picture that supports you. A picture of oblivion A.K.A.- hell. Plus, the main storyline of the game is to kill Daedra A.K.A- Demons and close all the gates leading from oblivion too their world. Sooo...... yeah. Play the game before you bash it.

But the point is that these things are options. Whether you worship this blasphemous "Divines" or the devilish "Daedra", or even neither of them, you still associate yourself with the plots of Lucifer and his mortal servants, and such things corrupt the soul. And the magic is there, whether you use it or not. From what you say, you must still be around it, no matter what you do in this "game", and you still risk your very soul. and more disturbing than that, if such a thing is possible, is that it seems that you are saying that you use the weapons of these "Daedra". You cannot possibly tell me that touching something that was once in the hands of a demon poses no risk to your Eternal soul.

And you ask us to play this blasphemous, dangerous game, and risk our very souls? To risk eternal torment in the domain of Satan, to "know" what we "bash"? This game is clearly the product of the Satanists who seek to damn us all, to lead us away from the Lord Jesus Christ. What more do we need to know to know that it is evil?

Do not forget that it was Satan who tempted Eve with the forbidden knowledge in the Garden of Eden, who then tempted Adam, and earned their expulsion from the Garden. Tell me, was the knowledge she gained worth that price? Similarly, in the perverse enjoyment of you Satanic game worth Eternal Damnation? Take a moment to truly comprehend eternity. Never ending, never ceasing torment. Is anything worth such a price?

First off, I would like to say that I am delighted to have finally found such a wonderful community of my brothers in Christ.

I must say, though, that I am disturbed that you appear to have studied such an obviously Satanic game so thoroughly. Even with the best of intentions, it is dangerous to asscioate yourself so closely with the tools of Satan. I am concerned for myself to have even had the cursory glimpse of this demonic game by reading of the posts in this thread.

It is all well and good to try to save the souls of others, but is it so important that we must risk our own souls? Besides, you clearly researched this game far more deeply than necessary. Could you not have simply glanced at the back of the evil box in which it comes to learn as much?

I fear that Lucifer may be tempting you far more than you realize
