    Re: Hello, from godless spain!

It's great to hear that you do not attend ceremonies where idols are displayed. I also went to places teaching falsehood as if it were true and although I questioned what I was taught..because the Methodists did have Bibles available and we were encouraged to read them..the answers I received were never satisfactory.

I don't know whether the people providing answers thought they were doing OK but they weren't and I was not satisfied. One day they pulled out a New English Bible. Now I had read the King James and since I can remember what I've read, immediately I let my views be known. As a child obviously I could do little more than focus on single words. "Excuse me, that's a different word. The reason it's a different word is because it has a different meaning." I'm sorry to say I enjoyed reading dictionaries and got some pleasure comparing different definitions.

You see I had already formed my opinion and my question was just to see how they got out of it. It wasn't a real question and I did not respond after receiving my answer. Here are some English people.

When I arrived in England I discovered why there are so many English translations. They are all mad. Although still quite young and experiencing what passes for "schools" over there, I was at least able to get some different answers and was introduced to the ideas of John Calvin. I disagreed with those answers but if actually in a church would just listen, formulating questions for use later. Later on I found out about Martin Luther and John Knox. If they were all using the same source material, I wondered, how come they are all getting different answers? The solution was to originate my own answers and my policy, at least at school, was to invent stuff that disagreed with everyone. This was better than reading dictionaries but not as good as sewing or music.

Why were their opponents murdered? Murder is unlawful killing and although not all killing is unlawful, I thought, what these freaks did certainly comes under the murder heading. Why would the ravings of murderers be taught from pulpits? You will see that these are Protestant thoughts but the same applies to others as you can read by googling for a list of schisms which go way back to the 4th century Council of Nicaea and even earlier. It's not as though we have multiple sources for the life of Jesus all in disagreement, is it?

What we have is The Bible. Of course, no-one has to agree with what The Bible teaches. Such people are not Christians. How can they be? They reject our only source for Christ's earthly sojourn. How can they say He even existed at all? Do they have some other source telling them what He said or what The Ten Commandments are? I have asked them. They do not. And when they claim, for example that all people are equal or that we are not conceived in filth and sin, where are they getting that information? I was quite able to make stuff up for my teachers at school:
    [raises hand]
    Tutor. "Yes?"
    Me . . "I can't agree with that."
    Tutor "Go on.."
Me . . "It is not consistent with.." (something from another lesson)
    Tutor. ". ."
    Me . . "I haven't finished yet."
    Tutor. "Well?"
Me . . (and so on)

For some reason I was excused Latin, but there's nothing of importance written in that language from what I can make out. We did have Greek classes, though, and since everything we have about Jesus is written in Greek that has been helpful. Nothing about Jesus is written in Latin. Some congregations only used Latin for centuries and although The Bible was available for people to read, in order to do so they'd need to read Latin and because the Church controlled education and Latin was not taught to commoners in fact no-one was actually able to read it. Translators were murdered.

Any Christian you meet will be happy to discuss this with you, don't take my word for it, but the most important thing is to ask yourself why all the murders? If you decide that you disagree with what God has commanded you can't really call yourself a Christian because Christianity STARTS with those commands. Jesus is described as fully compliant with God's Law and as extending His promises to us. In my case that means European heathens who went on to set up colonies here and there.

For example if you do not think babies are generated by acts of sin and vileness, that every baby is born DESERVING only of torture, then you disagree with The Bible. People who disagree with The Bible are not Christians because they disagree with God and God is the starting point of Christianity. These are not "ideas" or "teachings" I've thought up, they are spelled out very clearly in The Bible. That is why Jesus needed to be tortured. Of course if you think Jesus never existed the problem does not arise for you. But if you think He DID exist then you need to ask WHY did He exist.

The KJV site has quite a good search engine. It's best if you enter single words. HERE is another link with extra languages and a good tutorial under the little ? icon, top right hand corner. I've entered a search in quotes, which it handles very well, to demonstrate.

          Wow.

For a woman, (True Christian and better person than me of course..), this response is epic. I will need some days to read and digest it I think. With a dictionary. I'll get back to you sister, and thank you.
