    Knocking:

And asking to be let in, at least for a little while.

I'm Isabella (very true), I'm a widow (very true), I've been living virtuously while alone (maybe a bit less true). Raised Lutheran by wonderful kin, married in our church by a wonderful Minister, and I like photography, phenomenology, and pasta.

My favorite Scripture: John 21:25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.

    --That's a lot of deeds.

    Welcome, Isabella.

Have you renounced the lutheran faith and joined an Independent Baptist Church yet?
Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

Well, that's a good question. So far my big, soft heart has been getting in the way of that. It seems to me so much can be handled and settled with a gentle touch and some thinking.

I've been reading about the legislative patterns in post-Renaissance Europe, and they tended to take a strict, stiff, unbending interpretation of the Bible as well (though they didn't have the KJV1611 until, well, 1611). But you know all about that.

That's so true. It all went downhill from there. It's nice to meet someone else interested in Church history.

You're a widow? You might want to check out the Meet Christian Singles forum. You might find a TrueChristian™ man to give you that gentle touch into the Independent Baptist lifestyle.

Thank you for your warm welcome. I'm a little skittish about looking into finding a partner within such a... devoted church just yet, as we see such dramatic oscillation in the degree of influence of organized belief systems within successful societal advancement. As you know, our Founding Fathers, themselves robust Christians, were so repelled by the self-serving uses of Biblical interpretation of the Old World that they specifically addressed the issue in Constitutional terms.

Please forgive my extrapolation. Such things aren't as juicy and sweet as a more simple, and equally true, viewpoint, such as, Yes, I'd love to find a wonderful boyfriend.

We have been very successful in breaking down the barriers that those founding fathers put in place. Heroes like Ronald Reagan and GWB really showed the blueprint of how we can merge The Church with the State.

I'm sure you'll do great here. Just try not to think too much and learn the Lord's plan for you. There's something that drew you here in the first place.

I do agree, Presidents Reagan and GWB certainly did have a collective..... impact on civil, societal and interpretive progress, and all over the large, living world at that. Interestingly, two of the three earliest monotheistic religions of the early colonists, the Dutch Reformed and the Quakers (the third being the Puritans), embraced an inclusive, approach to one another, permitting an assimilation and coupling of traditions, and yet the Puritan philosophy had more to do with the revolt of the colonists against both the Crown and Puritanism -- an instance where rigidity and force just didn't please the members.

Apologies again. I really am more interested in things other than scholarly pursuits. Such as the aforementioned pasta, and tiramisu, and gentlemenfolk.

I'm not a communist. There hasn't been a successful example of large-scale communism, ever. I admire the sincere for trying, though (and that sincerity criteria certainly eliminates a lot of communists, doesn't it?).

My husband died of Lupus in 2006. He got a plate of bad luck.

Bad luck indeed! Even the worst strain of Lupus (systemic lupus erythematosus) is rarely fatal (5%), rarely found in men (10%), and uncommon in Caucasians (if applicable to your late husband).

Or maybe not bad luck at all. Was he engaged in any activity that may have prompted God to act swiftly and harshly?

His Aunt also died of Lupus, and his mother suffered a long time before dying of a cardiovascular event. It's not uncommon in Caucasians, Mr. Not A Jew. Not uncommon enough.

It wasn't swift. But it certainly was harsh. He was a good person and I miss him.
