    Hello Landover Baptist Church Forums

Hello, my name is William, and I'm an atheist. I see you have quite a few people posting on here trying to argue against your faith and religion. I'm not here to do that.

I am here to try and understand the beliefs that Christian people hold, why they do so and how they came to those conclusions. I am doing a study on religion and faith for school. If anyone can help me it will be greatly appreciated, if not, that's OK.

Hello William, what kind of name is "Mordecai", that Italian? You should be named Guido as that is "William" in Italian.

Since you have already decided to be an atheist, that is a choice to not be a Christian. To make such a choice, you had to do so with a knowledge between the two, sort of like choosing chocolate of vanilla ice cream, You have to try both before you can decide.

Since you are doing this for school, a large part of what school is is research. It is not taking the easy way out and have others explain it to you. Get a KJV 1611 Bible, read it from cover to cover. Talk to a Pastor to have him explain the parts you do not understand. Then you will of learned.

At least you post is in the right spot. 1 point for you.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

Landover Baptist Faith and Message statement
"The Holy Bible, KJV1611, was written by men divinely inspired and is God's revelation of Himself to man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy.”

All other religions are false. All other gods are false. All who worship other gods are damned to the eternal pit of hellfire in darkness and pain without end. No Christian will have any sympathy for their suffering for that suffering is ordained by God. (This includes Catholics who are not Christian.)

Landover is the only True Christian™ church - all others are false Christians - they too have their part in the damnation that will take place when Christ returns to Earth.

Any other social club terming itself a church, is lying and is headed by false prophets

Atheists are damned too. They refuse to accept Christ and therefore will be killed. (Luke 19:27)

I assume you go to a public school as no other teachers would be stupid enough to send an atheist to find out about religions.

Thank you for your replies. In answer to the question about my user name, it is taken from a song by my favorite band but it is also from the book of Esther.

I have done some reading of the Bible but my understanding of t isn't great, I shall have to take your advice Mr Hutchins and ask my questions about passages etc to a Pastor. I have only done limited reading of the Bible also, but am trying to rectify that for my study.

Mr Ezekiel Bathfire, by public school do you mean state school? (Here in the UK a public school is a 'private school' for wealthy families etc) Yes I go to a state school. I am studying psychology and am looking into people who have faith. How the came to find it, what the appeal is of faith, and why (for the people here on LBC) Christianity etc. I find it incredibly interesting to learn about the way people choose or accept a religion into their lives and also how the human mind works. Whilst at the same time it does completely boggle me.

You do know, going to a 'Stat School' you are only going to learn about 'State psychology' and have a very, very warped view of the world.

I do try and do as much reading of any material outside of school as possible. I know that schools look to make stats better but at university (I apologize if by saying school it made you think I meant the equivalent of a high school, I say school for university too) it is different and we are made to work a lot more than when I was in a secondary school.

Yes, it's a stupid outdated term from when schools were first introduced.

If you're an atheist that means you reject Jesus and His temporary death on the cross at Calvary for my sins. That sounds pretty hateful to me.

Please take a look at this video I recently made. It presents a series of questions that you atheists cannot answer. After viewing it, I'm certain that you will want to give your life over to Christ, as so many others have before you.

Re: Hello Landover Baptist Church Forums

The video does raise some interesting questions that I have never heard asked before, and I shall try to answer them to my best abilities but I am still young. I shall however ask some of my university lecturers and friends who are studying degrees more suited for the questions. So I may post back in a few days with a more comprehensive set of answers for yourselves.

Firstly the question about land sharks. Evolution doesn't work in the way that the question says. Also sharks have a very long evolutionary rate of change, they are already perfectly adapted to hunting in the sea with plenty of food supplies, so there is not as urgent need for change in the species.

Floods on Mars show that there was once water on the planet sometime. Our solar system is 4.6 billion years old, sometime in the formation of Mars up until now there could have been water on the planet. As the evidence suggests.

The fools/survival of the fittest question. Modern medicine and societies practices has meant now that those people who possibly would not have survived in a 'state of nature' etc, do now.

Humans evolving. Why we don't have 3 arms/eyes. 3 arms would not be practical, our brains have developed so that one side of the brain controls one side of the body, the other part the other side. The third arm would create an imbalance in our bodies. The 3 eyes part, we have 2 eyes for depth perception a third eye would interfere with it. Human evolution has practically stopped, or so I think I read, because of medicine etc.

Angels and demons. No evidence to suggest they exist, lack of fossils etc says they don't. However, that doesn't mean they don't exist. BUT the evidence does suggest that they don't otherwise we would have found some evidence of them, apart from in the Bible.

Why are there still monkeys? Humans evolved from a common ancestor of humans and monkeys. They didn't evolve from modern day monkeys that you see around the world. Modern primates, monkeys etc evolved from that same ancestor but down a different path of evolution.

Unicorns. The could have a single horn for the same reason deer etc have antlers. They could be used for fighting between males to assert dominance, and so have control of an area of land or female unicorns. However, there is no documented proof of unicorns apart from in the Bible, that would suggest that they don't and never have existed.

Wasps and spiders. It could be that individual spiders that come across the poison from the wasps eventually die. Because the venom is so strong their bodies cant defend themselves in time to pass on any possible anti-bodies that could have been developed. Those spiders that dies from the wasps probably only account for a small number of deaths in the population of spiders.

Trees growing into space. Trees like most plantlife can only survive in the lower atmosphere due to the lack of gases etc when you go up into the outer atmosphere. Like it was said, trees compete for sunlight. Trees that don't get the sunlight needed won't grow as big.

I have Marge to proof my writing tonight so it should be better she says. I don't know what she wants to prove.

My pastor Merle over here in Davenport says Pastor Zeke's question (Why do you hate Jesus?) is a damn good one. If you don't believe in Jesus it must be because you hate him and God. Maybe you blame them for something like I did when I went to prison. That's where I was when Jesus tapped me on the shoulder and said "Quit blaming me for your mistakes, you dumbass." Jesus didn't say "dumbass", but the prison outreach chaplain (Reverend Buck) said that's what Jesus wanted him to say to me. Reverend Buck said I should accept Jesus and love him and trust him and do whatever Jesus asked me to do forever. Some of the things Reverend Buck said Jesus was asking me to do I didn't like that much and I'm not allowed to talk about them ever. But I knew Jesus was loving me and every day I remember what Reverend Buck taught me from the Bible. This was my favorite:

                          Deuteronomy 17:2-7 (King James Version)

                          2. If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God, in transgressing his covenant, 3. And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded; 4. And it be told thee, and thou hast heard of it, and enquired diligently, and, behold, it be true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in Israel: 5. Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones, till they die. 6. At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death. 7. The hands of the witnesses shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people. So thou shalt put the evil away from among you.
Reverend Buck scared me half to death with this after he explained it to me and he wrote it down and gave it to me to carry in my wallet when I got out of the pokey. Buddy, stay away from Davenport or Freehold until Jesus and you are best pals!

Ill just tell you something now, Mordecai, don't try to disprove Christians on this site, they wont believe you. They will always hold on to their belief in the Bible, they will call any argument you provide as "the work of the devil" or something similar. Trust me, I've tried for days, but they won't listen. Unless you agree with them word for word, they'll just call you a sinner. You sound like an intelligent person, dont waste your time! They wont believe you!

Do you imagine that we set this forum up as a vehicle for unsaved fools like you to waltz in here, uninvited and unwelcome, to spew hatred and lies about the Holy Word of God? That's not how it works, pal. Jesus called you here the same as He did Emil. And He sure didn't call you here to turn anyone away from Salvation(r).

Do you deny that you are a sinner? Is that what you atheists call "an intelligent person?"

                              The Bible says otherwise!

                              Romans 3:23

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
