    A Visitor

Hello there! I'm a 24-year-old American woman with a large interest in religion. I myself was raised Catholic, and while I still go to Catholic Mass from time to time, I largely consider myself a nondenominational Christian.

While I am happy with my relationship with Christ, I am a scholar by nature, and it fascinates me to see how other people worship, whether it be Christian religion or otherwise. So I thought I would join to observe and learn more.

And while I may not share the exact same views as everyone here, I am very open minded and respectful so long as I am treated the same way. I love to discuss religion and learn more about it, but I have no interest in demanding that you change your faith to suit me, so I only ask that you all try to refrain from doing so to me.

    God bless!

2 problems so far, 1. you are a woman and if you want to know anything, you should ask your husband 2. God is not open-minded
and respectful so long as I am treated the same way.
You cannot come here preaching against God and also expect us (or God) to obey your rules
I love to discuss religion and learn more about it,
Like many women, you probably just like the sound of your own voice.

      1. you are a woman and if you want to know anything, you should ask your husband
Unfortunately, I am not married, and therefore do not have a husband to ask.

      2. God is not open-minded
I never said I was like God. I don't think he is open-minded either. I said that I was...I would never compare myself to God...it is no mere sinner's place to do so.

You cannot come here preaching against God and also expect us (or God) to obey your rules
I would never preach against God! I am a devout Christian, but I am currently without a church or group of fellow Christians to speak with regarding my relationship with God, so I'm here to explore this particular option. This community seems very eager to share their love of Christ and their beliefs...I'd hate to suddenly feel as if I'm not allowed to be saved, whether I repent or otherwise.

Like many women, you probably just like the sound of your own voice.
Not really. My speaking voice rather irritates me. Which is why I chose a text-based method of talking about God and Christ.

Then you have a father or a brother?

I never said I was like God. I don't think he is open-minded either.
In which case, His message is "Do not be open-minded."

I am currently without a church or group of fellow Christians to speak with regarding my relationship with God,
It would appear that your views are not to the taste of any known Christian group.
so I'm here to explore this particular option.

My speaking voice rather irritates me.
I have met women like that.

So, tell us, in your opinion (or that of your father or brother) 'Free Will' what's it all about?

Why am I not surprised, esp. with the attitude you seem to possess.

I never said I was like God. I don't think he is open-minded either. I said that I was...I would never compare myself to God...it is no mere sinner's place to do so.
Maybe so, but if you want to learn about God, read a real Bible , the KJV1611 and live it, all of it, every single word without deviation or 'salad bar' interpretation. The words were written in a certain way, follow them and stop whining.

We share with those that follow the real teachings of Jesus. We do not want to learn how to molest little boys or extort people to pay homage to the donpope.

Are you aware, your written words are pretty annoying too?
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

Amen brother, how often do people forget the lesson in James.

James 1: 8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

            and

James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

An open mind will just allow impure thoughts. Close that mind, make it singular of focus, make that focus Jesus.

I like to refer folks like you to Pastor Billy-Reuben's classic sermon Follow the Word of God, not your "conscience". It just might be the thing to unleash the power of the Holy Spirit in you.

I'm sorry, I'm not following your non-sequitor here. What does Cathlicism have to do with Christianity?

While I am happy with my relationship with Christ, I am a scholar by nature,

Or otherwise? So you enjoy gawking at trainwrecks? It fascinates you to see people condemn themselves to Hell? Don't you think that's a bit sadistic?

So I thought I would join to observe and learn more.
You certainly could benefit from additional learning, scholar.

And while I may not share the exact same views as everyone here,
Our 'views' are laid out plainly in the KJV. They are God's views.

I am very open minded and respectful so long as I am treated the same way.
How nice. You're from the fun little camp that goes by the motto : Do unto others as they do unto you, rather than Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Interesting, I'd like to hear your justification for that.

Let's see what Jesus says about it:

                Matthew 7:12 (King James Version)

12Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

                Simple enough?

I love to discuss religion and learn more about it, but I have no interest in demanding that you change your faith to suit me,
                What a relief.

so I only ask that you all try to refrain from doing so to me.
So you came here to learn about our beliefs but don't want us to tell you about them? Are you currently suffering from a medication imbalance?

                  Re: A Visitor

Then you have a father or a brother?
I do have a father, but as I mentioned, my family is Catholic, so I assume you wouldn't want me to hold his opinion.

It would appear that your views are not to the taste of any known Christian group.
That may be true. I've accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior, and try to make my decisions in life as he deems fit, but I've yet to find a church that suits me, or one that I suit.

So, tell us, in your opinion (or that of your father or brother) 'Free Will' what's it all about?
Free will is the choice that God gave to man whether to worship Him and His only son, sent to die on cross for our sins. Those who chose to hear His Word and follow Him would be saved, and those who did not and refuse to repent will burn.

Maybe so, but if you want to learn about God, read a real Bible , the KJV1611 and live it, all of it, every single word without deviation or 'salad bar' interpretation. The words were written in a certain way, follow them and stop whining.
I've read many versions of the Bible, most notably the King James version; it's my favorite, and the version I refer to when I need to look up and share scripture. And I hardly think I was whining.

We share with those that follow the real teachings of Jesus. We do not want to learn how to molest little boys or extort people to pay homage to the donpope.
I'm not sure why you assume I'd like to molest little boys or give money to the pope, considering I stated that I no longer regularly attend Catholic services. Nor did I say I wanted to teach anything to any of you...I came here to learn about your faith, not shove mine down your throats. I think that's a horrible thing to do...you wouldn't come to my private religious website (not that I have one) to tell me I'm wrong, so I don't want to do so to yours.

An open mind will just allow impure thoughts. Close that mind, make it singular of focus, make that focus Jesus.
See, now that's actually some good advice. I really like the wording you used.

I like to refer folks like you to Pastor Billy-Reuben's classic sermon Follow the Word of God, not your "conscience". It just might be the thing to unleash the power of the Holy Spirit in you.
That's definitely an interesting read, Pastor, but I can't help but dislike it. I think it's the rape part. Must be a woman thing.

Why aren't you married yet? You aren't a lezbean or a gypsy I hope.
Oh, not at all! I am a heterosexual woman, and am currently being courted by a very nice Christian man. I was engaged when I was eighteen, but my fiancé decided he couldn't wait until the wedding night and went around fornicating with whatever idiot hussy fell into his bed. I would rather be on my own and considered a spinster than to share my life with such a dishonest sinner.

I'm sorry, I'm not following your non-sequitor here. What does Cathlicism have to do with Christianity?
I know you don't like hearing it, but Catholicism is, in fact, a branch of Christianity, and to be honest, in the past forty years it has become very mainstream and far less....Catholic-esque. I think the denominations are more alike now than one might think.

Or otherwise? So you enjoy gawking at trainwrecks? It fascinates you to see people condemn themselves to Hell? Don't you think that's a bit sadistic?
No, but I have a very unique view of God and the other religions of the world that holds it in balance. I won't share it here, because it's not the place for it...I'm just a visitor, after all.

So you came here to learn about our beliefs but don't want us to tell you about them? Are you currently suffering from a medication imbalance?
Oh no, not at all! Perhaps I phrased that a bit wrong...what I meant was, I didn't come here to bash your faith and practices, I came to learn about them. I was just asking that my beliefs not be insulted...I don't plan on sharing my beliefs much here, though, because, as I said, I'm your guest, and it'd be rude to barge into someone's home and start telling them they're doing everything wrong.

I DO have a slightly off-topic question. I know that this group is an American-based one, and the use of American grammar and spelling is very important (I noticed Pastor Ezekiel is a stickler for this ). Why, then, do you choose to use a version of the Bible that is in 17th-Century British English? Is it due to the age of it, or a translation issue? Just curious.

Yes, I do expect you to follow the advice of your father. God's Law is that your father is responsible for you until you are married. Anything you do that is at the behest or advice of your father is marked in his book of life; on Judgment Day your father, not you, will answer. (As it is, it is a technicality, unless he leaves the Whore of babylon, he's hellbound anyway.)

KJV is written in the Language God used. It is the Bible and the language that the Pilgrim Fathers brought to the USA. It is therefore American.

And are you saying that Jesus and all of the other men and women of the Bible were speaking the language in which the KJV is written? Because English (particularly this style nor any recognizable version of it) was not developed until well after the death of Christ. Or do you mean it is the language God used to speak to the monks that translated the Bible under the command of King James?

I have two links that I'd like to share with you.

THIS ONE explains the miraculous way in which God Almighty transmitted the KJV1611 Bible.

THIS ONE is my sermon series in which I explain how we can tell which version of the Bible is the one True Word of God.

Please read them both carefully. I'll be praying that the Holy Spirit overwhelm you.

Ah, thank you, Pastor! Very helpful links, and a wonderful sermon series.

This whole experience is making me want to re-read the KJV...in a different outlook.
