I'm not here to troll, I'm here to talk. I'm fascinated by people who're as fundamentalist as you. For example: You say you follow the word of the bible to the letter, no? If so, why not go through with its prescribed punishments, such as stoning? Is that not part of its demands? How about restrictions, such as those on most seafood, and shaving? Leviticus has a plethora of wonderful laws that no one takes seriously anymore, but you should, no?

That's just one of the many things that I want to talk about. Rest assured, I'm not here to attack you for your beliefs. As much as I disagree, you're entitled to believe what you will. I'm not about to try and deny that. I just hope to be able to have (intelligent) conversation.
As I do with all well intended newcomers here I will give you some advice. If you came for well reasoned discourse this may not be the place for you.

However, if you are a scientist this place is a veritable gold mine of subjects to study. My primary area of research here is on the lack of genetic diversity among Evangelical Christians. This has many potential root causes, but the most predominant seems to be the predilection to breed within family units. Baptists in particular practice this.

In addition, because of their strong belief system, they tend to not properly educate the offspring that survive beyond infancy and choose instead to what they call "home school" them. Like you, I am not here to pass judgment merely to observe.

Wait a minute. It's "partially true" that God exists? I'm sorry, but that is nonsensical. Which part of Him are you talking about? The Upper Part or the Lower Part?

And as for the second part, what you described there is more or less morals. I define 'ethical' as correct. I feel that as long as no one or nothing is being hurt by one's actions, it's ethical.
        Proverbs 13:24:
He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.

Sometimes, you need to be firm with people for their own best interests. You might hurt someone temporally, but when it's for that person's own good, how comes it is unethical? I hope you don't raise your children that way?

Are you referring to our Hamite-free bloodline?
        Sweet Lord Jesus,
I want to pray for those who persecute me, my Lord.
Please, treat their children as you treated those of Egypt, when they upset you! (Psalm 135:8-9)
Dash their little children against the stones for their fathers iniquity! (Psalm 137:8-9)
Hit them on the cheek, and smash out their teeth! (Psalm 3:7)
Make their death and descent into Hell swift and terrible! (Psalm 55:15)
Scatter their broken bodies over the streets of their evil cities, like Benghazi, Amsterdam, Tokyo and Mecca! (Psalm 110:6)
        Praised be Your Glorious Name™.

        Amen.

Now, onto the discussion. The Bible was not written by God. At least, not directly. The Muslims have a stake on 'God's word'. The Bible is a series of writings from over 40 different writers, all sharing a common 'revelation': God. Thus, yes, they wrote about their experience with God. However, man wrote the Bible. Given, a good chunk of it was Jewish theologians, but there were portions written by men ranging from fishermen to kings. Once again, not God.

As for the extremes part, that's a false analogy. Religion is not a gaping hole. You can choose to see it that way, but there are far better analogies. I could use one, too: Take information on the internet. Some will believe none of the information they see on the web. Some will take some of it for true, some not true, depending on the information in question. Then, some will take everything on the internet as true. See? False analogies are fun!

How do you, as a sinner, decide which parts of the BIBLE to follow? Wouldn't this be like Society allowing criminals to decide which law applies to them and which doesn't? That is why the TrueChristians™ at Landover Baptist follow ALL of GOD's commandments.

Someday you will die and have to explain to JESUS why you didn't like some of his rules. Do you want to spend all eternity in HELL because you find parts of the BIBLE politically incorrect?
