    WWJD - America's Foriegn Policy

    Hello Landover,
As a fellow sinner, I need some help deciding what Jesus would do, if he was in charge of our foreign policy. Would Jesus support the foriegn policy that we have had for many, many decades? Would have Jesus supported the Vietnam War? Would Jesus have supported us using our C.I.A's involvement around the world? Would have Jesus supported our invasion into Iraq? Would the "Prince of Peace" have supported our current preventive first strike policy? As someone who was raised a Baptist, and has been out of the church for some time now, these questions sit at the heart of my soul. What would Jesus do?
I have always tried to figure out, why our government feels that it is their duty to be judge and jury around the world. I see the photos of the innocent children that have died because of our bombs, I've been to the funerals of friends that have died serving their country in these wars.
So, once again, what would Jesus do?
2 Timothy 2:16-17 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

I think I speak for the rest of this site when I say he would come back to kill all the foriegners so we would never have to deal with them. After all, America is God's chosen land.

Friend, this is called the "introduction" forum for a reason. Please tell us about yourself, your church, and how you came to find Jesus.

If you have a question, first check to see if it hasn't already been addressed by using the "search" button that Jesus has provided.

And don't pay any attention to posters who have "unsaved trash" under their name. That path will only lead you into the bowels of hell.
      Who Will Jesus Damn?

Here is a partial list from just a few scripture verses:

Hypocrites (Matthew 24:51), The Unforgiving (Mark 11:26), Homosexuals (Romans 1:26, 27), Fornicators (Romans 1:29), The Wicked (Romans 1:29), The Covetous (Romans 1:29), The Malicious (Romans 1:29), The Envious (Romans 1:29), Murderers (Romans 1:29), The Deceitful (Romans 1:29), Backbiters (Romans 1:30), Haters of God (Romans 1:30), The Despiteful (Romans 1:30), The Proud (Romans 1:30), Boasters (Romans 1:30), Inventors of evil (Romans 1:30), Disobedient to parents (Romans 1:30), Covenant breakers (Romans 1:31), The Unmerciful (Romans 1:31), The Implacable (Romans 1:31), The Unrighteous (1Corinthians 6:9), Idolaters (1Corinthians 6:9), Adulterers (1Corinthians 6:9), The Effeminate (1Corinthians 6:9), Thieves (1Corinthians 6:10), Drunkards (1Corinthians 6:10), Reviler (1Corinthians 6:10), Extortioners (1Corinthians 6:10), The Fearful (Revelation 21:8), The Unbelieving (Revelation 21:8), The Abominable (Revelation 21:8), Whoremongers (Revelation 21:8), Sorcerers (Revelation 21:8), All Liars (Revelation 21:8)

You need no such help. Jesus would decide for Himself. Anyway, He is in charge of our foreign policy. That our leaders choose to ignore His directives only dooms them to an eternity of torment.

        Psalm 89:31-32 (King James Version)

        31If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments;
32Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.

Would Jesus support the foriegn policy that we have had for many, many decades?
Some of it, yes, when it involved turning otherwise godless heathens onto the narrow and steep path to salvation.

Would have Jesus supported the Vietnam War? Would Jesus have supported us using our C.I.A's involvement around the world? Would have Jesus supported our invasion into Iraq? Would the "Prince of Peace" have supported our current preventive first strike policy?
Friend, God's favorite country is expected by Him to assimilate all those who would reject Him. And please cite the Scripture that supports your "Prince of Peace" nickname you've attached to our Lord.

2 Chronicles 15:12-13 (King James Version)

        12And they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;
13That whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

As someone who was raised a Baptist, and has been out of the church for some time now, these questions sit at the heart of my soul. What would Jesus do?
Now that you've turned your back on Jesus, why would you care what He would do? Leaving the Baptist church (choosing eternal damnation) and then coming here for some sort of advice about what's troubling you seems sort of silly, don't you think? What interest would we have in anything other than bringing you back to Christ Jesus? Have you blasphemed the Holy Spirit while you've been away, by the way?

I have always tried to figure out, why our government feels that it is their duty to be judge and jury around the world. I see the photos of the innocent children that have died because of our bombs, I've been to the funerals of friends that have died serving their country in these wars.
So, once again, what would Jesus do?
Deep in their hearts, most of our Godly conservative leaders throughout history have known that it is God's will that we, as His favorite country, advance His agenda. Ultimately, this country will prosper when we have fulfilled His wishes, but horrible things will befall us if we are derelict in those duties.

        Jeremiah 48:10 (King James Version)

10Cursed be he that doeth the work of the LORD deceitfully, and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood.

Jesus came to us to enforce His Fathers words. He came with sword in hand, ready to do battle with Satan and those who do not accept Him as their Lord and Savior. Some how you have confused the word of God and the Lieberal agenda. We members of Landover are here to Glorify Jesus. He is our Lord and Savior not Osamba . Tell me son do you love Jesus, have you accepted Jesus as your savior. I know you are a lost soul, let us help you!

I'm 31 yrs old, married with two children. I was saved when the grace of god swept through my heart. I was baptized when I was 16, I come from a christian conservative family. I was raised in a Christian home, with Christian values. I'm a Christian!!! My children are raised with those same values. Yes, I've been away from the church, for about year. We've been checking out different churches for a while, haven't found one yet to settle down in. God walks and talks with me all the time.
            Isaiah 9:6
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
2 Timothy 2:16-17 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

Ah yes, how wonderful! Isaiah can truly be inspirational. How many times have you read it?

I find parts of it a bit offensive. Isaiah 16:11
Wherefore my bowels shall sound like an harp for Moab, and mine inward parts for Kirharesh.

Read the rest for yourself to see how God's gas turns out for His chosen.

              Then there's that terrible

              Isaiah 45:7
I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

I don't believe that! I believe Satan is the root of all my troubles!

Thank you for at least being honest enough to admit that you don't believe the Holy Word of God in it's entirety (as God commands).

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

OK, you got me on the "Prince of Peace". My bad.

So why exactly was it that you walked away from your Baptist church (and Jesus)? Christians don't do that and, while God may well have guided you to His favorite forum so you might find your way back to Jesus, He's not one to "walk and talk" with pseudo-Christians who've abandoned Him and can't find their way to church anymore. What is it you're unable to find in all the churches you've been "checking out" that was absent in your Baptist church? What church was it? Our pastors are well known among pastors of Baptist churches all over God's favorite country and may well be willing to assist in putting right whatever it was that caused you to renounce your Baptist faith.

2 Corinthians 6:14-17 (King James Version)

14Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
15And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
16And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

Welcome friend, you ask a good question. Let's see what The Bible says:

                      Jesus says:
                      Matthew 24:6-7 (King James Version)
6And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
So clearly Christ accepts wars are part of the world.

                      Jesus and Roman Centurion
                      Matthew 8:5-13 (King James Version)
5And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,
6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
7And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.
8The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
9For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
10When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
11And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.
12But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
13And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

Jesus clearly feels a soldier can be Godly too (Keep in mind a Roman Centurion was expected to be far more merciless than any Navy Seal) Additionally Christ never rebuked the Israelites for any of their wars to conquer or defend the Holy Land. Considering God not only condoned the conquest of the Holy Land by the Israelites but actively aided in it I would say God and Jesus fully approve of War and would approve of US foreign policy.

                      I hope this helps friend.

Jesus says: Matthew 5:9 "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God"

Where does this passage fit into this picture?

Paul also writes: Romans 12:19: Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord." To the contrary, if your enemy is hungry, feed him; "if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by doing you will heap burning coals on his head." Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Then there is the 10 Commandments, and one being; "Thou shall not kill"

You can see, how this subject can try one's soul.

The thing that really irks me, is that how are we supposed to spread his word throughout the world to the youth of the world, when we're bombing their countries, and killing them off, some still infants? If our leaders in D.C. were listening to Paul's letters, shouldn't we be taken sanctions off countries, and send them more food and water, a nice jesture of kindness, and peace? Instead sanctions on countries, starve the people, and leave them without drink.

2 Timothy 2:16-17 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

These were hardly wars of conquest friend. We did a lot in Iraq to bring American style free enterprise to their country. I compression to the socialist horror story Iraq was that would come under peace making and feeding our enemy.

As for Afghanistan I would think even a brutal occupation and martial law would be a vast improvement over the lawless free for all that was going on there.

Again, Jesus accepted the Centurion as a Christian even though the man was a killer. To put that into context the Roman army when they captured a city killed every living thing they found inside. Centurions were expected to lead their men by example.

I am aware of no saction that has condemned a population to death by slow starvation but how else do you propose to deal with an aggressor state bent on evil like Iran, North Korea, France or Cuba friend? Evil must be faced or the world would be condemned to darkness.

For example, do you really think the appeasement of Hitler was the morally correct course? If so what about the Jews he was killing?

Yep, when all the Muslims are dead we will have peace.

Yes, but we're not killing our enemies, we're killing God's enemies. Completely different.

You mean, like food and water infested with smallpox or swine flu or anthrax or something? I like the way you think, friend.
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.

God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

                              Exodus 15:3

The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.

                              Genesis 41:16

And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.

As you can see Our Lord is a man of war, and it is He that will give an answer of peace.
