Indeed we do all sin and come short of the glory of God, but I don't know what the 10 commandments have to do with Christianity.

We don't have to follow the Old Testament as far as the stupid punishments and such.

Exodus 20:16:
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

Do not lie, mr Coleridge! You commit the sin of interpreting the Bible instead of just doing what it says. You should consider this passage:

Matthew 5:17-19:
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

These are the Words of Jesus. You deny these words, mr Coleridge, and that means you can not possibly be called a Christian. Please, stop lying to this young man, you are drawing him towards the broad path you follow, that leads to Hell. You disgust me!
