I have found this message board by looking for real Christians. The only time I have met others, generally they were false believers and just did it for appearances.

When I went through the website, I was happy to see that you guys were great people.
I knew that this was a great place once I have read Jeb Thurmond's introduction,
Attention Unsaved Trash: This the ONLY subforum you can start threads in. Here is where you introduce yourself. Tell us what church you go to and what your favorite Bible verse is and how you came to find Jesus.

I live in America (the good part), however, I am without a proper church in the area I am currently in. Most of the area is farmland and the only church in the area belongs to MARY.

I am joining the Navy on November 17th.
    My birthday is actually today.

Ah, one question though. . .
Is technology such as TVs and Computers evil? I could have sworn that technology was evil. I'd like one of you guys to help me out here.

That's great news for me to hear.
I hope everyone accepts me with kindness!

Reading a lot of the forum (for about a week or two before joining) made me think that it won't be too hard as I share the same values as a few of the people in this group. Of course, I don't include the ones that are banned on this list.

When you join the Navy I recommend you tell the drill instructor, in no uncertain terms, that you do not believe that women shouldl be allowed aboard submarines.

You should loudly tell him that women shouldn't be allowed in the Navy at all! That they should be married to fine Christian gentlemen, cooking and cleaning the home, and bearing little Soldiers for Christ(tm).

Should he protest, tell him you have the backing of the entire Landover Baptist Church. Tell him that the tens of thousands of fervent members here will bombard him and his higher-ups with well-reasoned and insightful e-mails loudly proclaiming that you have first amendment rights to express your beliefs.

When you see his eyes grow wider in fear of your independence of mind, tell him that he may proceed with his instructions. He will no doubt reward you with exta duties commensurate with your abilities.

Yes, this is the plague of modern society. God abhors of them:

            Isaiah 29:13-14:

Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.

I live in America (the good part), however, I am without a proper church in the area I am currently in. Most of the area is farmland and the only church in the area belongs to MARY.
That is sad to hear, and slightly confusing. If you live in the good part of America, there should be Baptist Churches all over the place. Are you sure you really live in the good part?

I am joining the Navy on November 17th.

            Congratulations!

Most technology is, but here at Landover, we replace evil programs, like Firefox and Windows, with our own JesOS(TM) products. This allows us to use these things without being harmed by the countless demons that live on the Internet, preying on unsuspecting True Christian(tm) Internet users.
            Sweet Lord Jesus,
I want to pray for those who persecute me, my Lord.
Please, treat their children as you treated those of Egypt, when they upset you! (Psalm 135:8-9)
Dash their little children against the stones for their fathers iniquity! (Psalm 137:8-9)
Hit them on the cheek, and smash out their teeth! (Psalm 3:7)
Make their death and descent into Hell swift and terrible! (Psalm 55:15)
Scatter their broken bodies over the streets of their evil cities, like Benghazi, Amsterdam, Tokyo and Mecca! (Psalm 110:6)
            Praised be Your Glorious Name™.

            Amen.

Fine advice for the young man. It encourages independent thought, something always sought in our serviceMEN. Also I am afraid you are correct about the extra work he will receive. Not like the good old days where you were encouraged to ''man up'' with a basic late night beat down from your fellow recruits at your NCO's instruction.

I believe that God approves of computers.

Take a look at this verse:

Ex:38:21: This is the sum of the tabernacle, even of the tabernacle of testimony, as it was counted, according to the commandment of Moses, for the service of the Levites, by the hand of Ithamar, son to Aaron the priest.
This is summing – adding things up to get a True / False answer.

                    Now look at this:

Le:25:29: And if a man sell a dwelling house in a walled city, then he may redeem it within a whole year after it is sold; within a full year may he redeem it.
Le:25:30: And if it be not redeemed within the space of a full year, then the house that is in the walled city shall be established for ever to him that bought it throughout his generations: it shall not go out in the jubile.
Le:25:31: But the houses of the villages which have no wall round about them shall be counted as the fields of the country: they may be redeemed, and they shall go out in the jubile.
                    And here we see conditional summing - =IF(Houses<Walls,SUM(H:H’), TRUE,IF(WALL=0, JUBILE),IF(HOUSE=CITY, TRUE),(JUBILE)).

I do not think there is a clearer example of the hint from God that Computers would be Godly.

And any technology that you might use on a submarine in the defense of His favorite country would most certainly be Blessed.
                    Who Will Jesus Damn?

Here is a partial list from just a few scripture verses:

Welcome, friend. You have found the best place to fellowship with other Bible-believing Christians. I rejoice that God has brought you here.

What do you do to keep the Sabbath Holy without the guidance of a Pastor and the fellowship of fellow Brothers and Sisters in Christ?
                        II Thessalonians 1:7-9

In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power

The man who is being progressively sanctified will inescapably sanctify his home, school, politics, economics, science, and all things else by understanding and interpreting all things in terms of the Word of God and by bringing all things under the Dominion of Christ the King. -R.J. -True Disciple-
By the good part of America, I meant the United States of America, as opposed to Canada, Mexico, Brazil and the other countries.

I live in a farm setting, where not many buildings abound.

                            -Jedediah-

                            Exodus 16:28-30 (King James Version)
29See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.
30So the people rested on the seventh day.

Going by this, to follow it would simply be to not work and keep God and all things holy mindful.
You can respect it and make prayer, but you should not leave the house for any reason as there should be no need to.

This means to me that unless a Pastor or other people are in your house the day -prior-, they should not quite be in there with you.

It's a day of rest AND worship to me. You can worship at home and follow both ideals I believe.
If I'm in the wrong, I would enjoy a Pastor or brother telling me otherwise.

                            -Croix- -
I never really saw people put it like that either, however, it's not too hard to understand really if it's written out that way either.

                            -Pastor Ezekiel-
                            Thank you for your insight.
This will make it so I do not think whether it is holy or not to be using the technology and keep my mind on the good fight.

                            -Everyone Else-
                            Thank you for the welcome!

                              Re: New Believer-Navy

I see where you are coming from, and it does seem that you have Scriptural support. However, we may both do well to seek clarification from one of the Pastors on this matter.

                              Leviticus 23:1-3
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.
Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.

The Hebrew word for "holy convocation" is miqra, which can also be translated to mean "something called out," "an assembly," or "a reading." To my understanding, Sunday services are commanded assemblies.

                              Also consider Hebrews 10:23-26:

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Here , the LORD stresses the importance of assembling ourselves for praise, worship, fellowship, and mutual exhortation. Not assembling would hinder the Pastors in their charge of feeding their flocks (as in I Peter 5:2 and Acts 20:28).
                              II Thessalonians 1:7-9
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
