    I'm here to learn

    Hi everyone.

I was a little hesitant in signing up to these forums - after all, I am a self described atheist. A "God hating communist loving" one, I suppose, according to one of your polls... I was hurt by that, I will admit. I was especially hesitant to sign up, not because of our naturally contradicting ideals and values, but because of the 'feel' around here. The 'feel' of narrow-mindedness and a seeming lack of acceptance that there ARE other ideas out there that may have some merit.

    Take this for example:

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. A common saying, but one of my favourite ones. There are always two sides to an argument.

I'm here because I want to learn about your society. I believe to have a true vision on life, you have to look at it from all perspectives. I'm very passionate about open debate & discussion as I believe that is the only way to become a well rounded human being.

Just as you may believe that my 'religion' is faulty as it is based on hypotheses, observation and experimentation (science), I reciprocate. I do not accept the bible as evidence. I believe that to fully understand the bible, you have to view it objectively: as a historical document, written by humans 2000 years ago. The primary reason I do not accept the bible as evidence is because it is written by humans. And then, over the course of 2000 years, translated from language to language, as human language evolved. Having learnt Japanese for some period of time, I know full well that written language, literature and poetry, lose much of their original lustre and meaning when translated or transliterated. Undoubtedly the bible has lost something in the 2000 years of its existence with its translations from Ancient Greek and Hebrew to Old English and then to English as we know it today.

I hope to learn much from my stay here.
Psalm 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

The "true christians" here will not help you understand anything, apart from how wrong they attitudes to race, sexuality and freedom are, and how they justify them with quotes from the "KJV1611 Collected Fairy Tales"

Just as you may believe that my 'religion' is faulty as it is based on hypotheses, observation and experimentation (science)
It sounds like you are close to the right path, If you examine the Real Holy texts (details of how to find these are in my signature) you will find a Truth that is based on empirical evidence.

Why do you assume that I am a pervert? Also, I don't think that I ever said that I hated Jesus. I've never met the guy, why on earth should I hate him?

Define terrorist. Is a terrorist someone who dons a mask and bears a weapon? Are they someone who shares a different ideology and is willing to fight for it?

I've never done the former, but consider me guilty of the latter. Am I a terrorist?

I didn't assume. I asked. And you dodged the question. I'll take that as a yes.

Also, I don't think that I ever said that I hated Jesus. I've never met the guy, why on earth should I hate him?
You shouldn't hate Him. You should stop hating Him.

If your ideology is different from God's, that makes you a satanist.

Wrong. There is only God's side; everything else is irrelevant.

Wrong again, you just need to look at it from God's perspective.

                        Wrong again. Check this out:

2nd Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
Having observed this evidence, I'm sure you'll be willing to modify your original hypothesis and accept that the Bible is indeed the word of God. Refusing to do so would be unscientific and make you a hypocrite.

Of course Our Father was angry with us when we were children:

Psalm 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

For Our Father to love us, we have to earn His Love, it doesn't just happen automatically as soon as we're born. Babies are tainted with sin, you know.
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.

God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.
