    Hello everyone!

My name is Cathy and I have been perusing this forum for a little while. In preparation for posting I have read through the KJV once and I am partially through my second time. To tell you all the truth I feel like I will never have read it a satisfactory number of times, and so I will continue to do so throughout the rest of my life.

I don't attend a proper church because I am having trouble finding one in my area. I was born into a Roman Catholic family but I knew from an early age that it was not right for me. However, I respected my parents' wishes and continued to attend the weekly service with them until age seventeen, at which point I elected to follow a different path.

At first, under the ignorant and misguided impression that most Christian churches operated similarly to Roman Catholic ones, I avoided religion altogether. Recently though, I have found myself wishing I could find a good church where I could be closer to God and avoid all of the corruption and the focus on money that I observed in the RCC. That is the reason I am here, asking (or more like begging) for guidance on finding the church where I belong.

My favorite Bible verses (for the time being, as they change all the time) are:

"This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you" John 15:12

"For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved"
    John 3:17

"So when they continued asking him, he lifted himself up, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you let him cast the first stone" John 8:7

"Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for where in thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things" Romans 2:1

As you might have guessed, the Gospel according to John is my favorite book of the Bible. I find it to be very elegantly written.

If you would like any more information about me, please feel free to ask. I was not sure how much to say in this first post, as it seems to be running a bit on the long side already. Thank you for taking the time to read all the way through this. I look forward to hearing from you all.

Hello, Cathy. Welcome to this friendly place. I like your ID - "curmudgeon" - I'm a curmudgeon too, as many of us older folks are.

That's a nice introduction. I'm glad that you've seen that the catlick church is a one-way ticket to Hell and gone in search of the truth.

You've certainly made an excellent start by reading the KJV1611 Bible - there's no better start! I'm sure that you'll find all the Christian fellowship and advice you could wish for here.

Now to the important stuff: do you have your husband's permission to be here? How many Soldiers for Jesus have you born him? What's your favorite pie to bake?
    What's your operating system? Windows ? OS X ? Mine's JesOS!

      Re: Hello everyone!

Hello Cathy! Welcome to our humble forum. I like the book of John too -- here is one of my favourite verses:

John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Isn't it a relief not to have the wrath of God upon us? I shudder to think what horrors the LORD has in store for the unsaved; but then again, I try not to think about it too much.

        Re: Hello everyone!

Thanks for the warm welcome! "Curmudgeon" is one of my favorite words. Outwardly one would not expect that to be a good word for my personality, but those who know me well use it often! Now on to answering your questions:

On having my husband's permission: I still live at home with my parents. I am nineteen years old and my parents would prefer that myself and my "boyfriend" (more like fiance but due to the heavy negative social stigma of teenaged engagement where we live we refrain from using that word) wait until we are both done with our schooling before tying the knot. However, I do have my father's permission to be here. He closely monitors my internet usage and questions me about any website that he finds suspicious, so I would be foolish to venture outside approved online territory.

I suppose that also sort of answers your second question about my child-bearing situation. I look forward to the day when I am in the position to have that privilege but I am not yet that fortunate.

As far as pies are concerned, I love making chocolate pie. My future mother-in-law is currently helping me branch out to other varieties so that I know how to make them the way that my future-husband likes them.

I must say that it is a relief for me personally, however it weighs heavily on my mind and heart that some of my family and friends might be in jeopardy. I try to stay positive about it though, and I try to be a good role model for them as often as I can. I also try to keep in mind the difficulty that they cause the Lord by straying from him when he only ever loves them.

            Re: Hello everyone!

            Welcome, Cathy.

I take great pity on you for having the unfortunate fate of being born into a papist family. Many people are turned away from True Christianity™ because they mistakenly think the false, evil Catholic faith is "Christianity" and want nothing to do with it.

I also would like to comment on your favorite Bible verses.

"This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you" John 15:12
Ah yes, but let us remember that in the Book of Matthew what Jesus says the greatest commandment is...

            Matthew 22:36-39
36Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38This is the first and great commandment.
39And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

The greatest commandment is to love God. Loving your neighbor comes second.

"For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved"
            John 3:17
I particularily like the verse that follows it...

            John 3:18
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

It says right there that those who believe in Christ are not condemned, and those unbelievers are sent straight to Hell. This is the essence of Jesus's message! Glory!

"So when they continued asking him, he lifted himself up, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you let him cast the first stone" John 8:7
Jesus is referencing what He said in more detail in Matthew 7:1-5. Please read my Biblical exegesis. You will find it informative and enlightening.

"Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for where in thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things" Romans 2:1
Again, Paul is referencing hypocritical judgment which is covered in my astute Biblical analysis in the link above. You really should read it.

            YIC,

            Rev. Jim

Yes, this verse offers me much consolation when I find myself worrying about my loved ones and friends who have lost their ways. It reminds me that Christ did not come to earth with condemnation in mind, but that those who have strayed really gave Him no other choice.

Thank you again for making sure I understood the true meaning of this verse and the other from Romans which is similarly often misinterpreted. I like those verses because, as an imperfect person I use it to remind myself that I should search inward for self-improvement before I begin pointing out the imperfections of others.

My father does not want me posting pictures of myself on the internet. Although I'm sure my image is quite safe here, I have to respect and honor his concern for my safety.

I'm sorry to hear that you are not perfect. You are just young. Hopefully someday you will come around and follow Matthew 5:48 and get off the road to Hell.

Thanks for your sympathy. I think I'm headed in the right direction by striving for perfection. Unfortunately, it is not something that happens overnight.
