In quoting this passage, the Pastor was not declaring himself your enemy or suggesting that you had become his. He was quoting Paul who, himself, was using a literary device.

In modern parlance, Paul is saying, "Dude, so I'm too real for you, is that it? That's why you get all like, spazzy, 'cause I'm telling it like it is, man."

Naturally, such dialog could never been as meaningful and penetrating as the Bible, but poor Paul is probably able to live with knowing that you and your friends think he's a lame-o.

So you believe that God, the all-powerful creator of the universe, who knows everything, has failed in His promise to preserve His Word.

This means that you must believe one of the following:

• God isn't all-powerful or isn't all-knowing, and thus is not much of a God.
• God either doesn't care that humans are misled into eternal torture in Hell, or enjoys the little prank . . . and is thus evil.
• God doesn't exist.

These are the only ways that the Bible can possibly be incorrect. So, which is it?

this just seems like a bunch of 'adults' scolding a teenger who genuinely wants to learn. i really dont know how you convert people if you treat them so horribly. i came here because i was genuinely curious if you could teach me anything.

Hey! We do not HIDE behind the Bible! We declare its actual, printed content for all the world to see. We get a lot of grief for doing that, but we feel strongly about our mission and ride out the written abuse. (Mind you, there are times when the abuse of the written word becomes far more exasperating than the abuse directed towards us. Then it becomes difficult to remain civilized, I will admit.)

And yes, I suppose that there is some validity to your little jab about us being internet tough guys, but you are standing up oh-so-bravely using the same medium, aren't you?

The defense that I offer on behalf of my brethren is the same that I extend on behalf of Bugs Bunny.

In adventure after adventure, Bugs is always minding his own business. Oftentimes, sitting in a comfortable stuffed chair down in his hole, munching contentedly on a carrot, when Elmer Fudd or Yosemite Sam or whoever comes looking for him and starts making trouble.

Bugs is never out there, roaming the 'hood, looking for a fight. They come after him. And it is hardly his fault that he has them totally outclassed in the intelligence department. Besides the more brute methods for dealing with his tormentors, i.e. heavy iron anvils, Bugs often employs the arts. Symphonies, opera, Shakespeare, Bugs pulls 'em all out in an effort to end the conflict that they started so he can get back to relaxing with a tasty carrot.

It wouldn't surprise me if Bugs Bunny has a deeper working knowledge of the Bible than most of the clumsy fools who stick their shotguns into this forum.

What? You have received excellent instruction in this thread.

Even so, your perspective is way off...

When you face God, at your time of judgment, the only thing that will matter is whether or not you are Saved. Excuses won't help one bit. The onus is upon you to look after your own soul. So, rather than blame others for your incredible, obstinate ignorance, you need to focus on praying that God open your heart so you may receive His Word.

2nd Corinthians 5:10 "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things [done] in [his] body, according to that he hath done, whether [it be] good or bad."

No one else, no matter how good or bad they are at teaching, will be held to account for your sins. Either you are Saved or you are not. You need to do what it takes to get Saved!

This is a lesson that translates into other areas too. Clearly, you have a problem reading and writing English. Do you blame your school teachers for this? Don't you grasp that blame is useless? Just do what it takes to learn!
