    Former n

All my life I have been raised in a non-religious background, spending my time doing things that I should be ashamed of. Reading the bible has taught me how wrong I have been in the past doing the unspeakable (that I still dont wish to admit so openly).

I know it sounds corny, but the first time I properly read the bible I knew that everything in my life was wrong and that I would be punished for it, and need to be punished for it. But I'm worried - worried that these sins will hold me back forever, in the eyes of myself and our lord. I really need some advise on what to do to repent, and if it is even possible.

    Bless all those that help,
    Jacob

Welcome friend, glad you got to Jesus before the rapture. Tell us your story of redemption.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

I have know children that I know of. I never wed, and all my sinful encounters have been childless that I know of. I don't know if it would be the right path for me to produce a child without fully understanding God's way.

Redemption is what I seek. It is what I have thought about for the past few months, and I can not escape the worry that whatever I do will never make up for it. I've prayed for god to give me a sign, and all I have found is this site.

A cautious welcome to you, Jacob. From your words it looks like you have taken the first baby steps to salvation.

(1 John 1:9) "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Lots of people like to cherry-pick that verse because they think that by ONLY admitting to our sins we are saved, but it takes a little more work than that. A short while later we see:

          (
1 John 3:6) "Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him"

I'm praying that you can stay on the path to Heaven!

          Yours in Christ,

          Z. Smyth

Jacob. Now that's a young sounding name. How old are you? If you are still young enough to be subject to your elders, you might find counsel with one of us concerning God's plans for correcting your shameful ways. As Brother Smyth wisely pointed out, it will take a combination of confessing your most shameful sins and then abiding in Him (performing the actions of someone who is repentant and longs for forgiveness). I encourage you to seek out the company of one of your elders when you are ready to turn yourself around and open yourself up.

By the way, do you like swimming?
