They don't let me go to church.

Hello, I'm new here. Well I introduce myself.
My name is Eric, and yes my favorite verse
    is:

    Genesis 29:20
So Jacob worked seven years to pay for Rachel. But his love for her was so strong that it seemed to him but a few days.

Poorly, I can't go to church, my family don't let me.

Any questions? Dare to ask me

Why don't you pray for God to smite your family so you can go to Church?

Oh my dear, how can you say that?!?!
It's my family and I love them.
I think it doesn't matter where I am, as long as I pray.
Anyway it would be still better to pray at church

      How are you felicity?

        Hey Steelthorns, welcome!

By the way, if you are really serious about wanting to go to church, then I'm sure if you give a cogent reason to your parents, they'd give in. You just have to show them that you are serious about following that spiritual route!
        Psalm 139:21-22
Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?
I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.

They can't stop you. God's commands trump family demands. "He that loveth his father and mother more than me is not worthy of me," He says. Matthew 10:37. "I am come to set a man at variance against his father," Matthew 10:35. Break free, go to Church!

Indeed it would be. The Bible tells us to not give up meeting so we can help each other be good.

Hebrews 10:24-25 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Lol, I disagree with your literal interpretation of Luke 14:26. I don't have a degree in theology but I'm pretty sure it means that you need to love God more waaaaaaaaay than you love your family - so much more that it looks like hatred. It doesn't necessarily mean that you must hate your family. You guys need to stop with all these hyperboles. There's a lot of exaggerations in the Bible and many contradictions so you can't simply take everything you read literally. You have to study the scriptures attentively and use your brain.

Isn't that what I said? If your family stands in your way of loving Christ, you should turn them aside.

Jesus did the exact same thing. He denied his own mother and family to prove a point.

Matthew 12:46-50 While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.
Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.
But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

Here is another example of where Jesus tells people to deny their own family if they get in the way of following Him.

Matthew 8:19-22 And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.
And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.
And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

Again here Jesus says that He doesn't care about your family. He only wants you to serve Him.

Matthew 10:34-39 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

I don't know how quoting Luke 14 is hyperbolic when so many of Jesus' other teaching support the same concept.

At what point do you quit taking the Bible literally?

Where is that line you draw? Was the earth not created in six days? Did Noah not put two of every unclean and seven of every clean animal on his boat? Did God not manifest Himself in a burning bush to Moses? Did Jonah not live in the belly of a fish? Did the walls of Jericho fall from horn blasts? Did an angel not visit Mary and tell her that she was to bear the Messiah even though she was a virgin? Did Jesus not die and come back to life? Did the dead not rise as He was crucified? Did He not heal a man that was blind since birth? Did He not cast demons into a herd of pigs? Is he not going to really return riding a white horse with a sword that protrudes from His mouth?

Where do you draw the line between what you believe and what you don't?

Hello, I'm new here. Well I introduce myself.
My name is Eric, and yes my favorite verse
                              is:

                              Genesis 29:20
So Jacob worked seven years to pay for Rachel. But his love for her was so strong that it seemed to him but a few days.

Poorly, I can't go to church, my family don't let me.

Any questions? Dare to ask me
There may be a good reason why your family don't let you go to Church, they may be following scripture.

                              Are you a cripple?

                              Lev.21:17-23
Whosoever ... hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God. For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous, Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded, Or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken; No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God. ... Only he shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries.

                              Are you a bastard?

Deuteronomy 23:2 A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD.

It may not be you, it may have been one of your forefathers over the last 300 hundred years?

I know God wouldn't let me believe in Him if He didn't exist.
