I mealy mention Bernard Madoff and you assume I am making an accusation.

There is only one place that the accusations are coming from and that is from your own conscience.

I would have thought that was not too much of an intellectual exercise for you to work out, but it clearly was, OK we shall have a look at Matthew 27:50-53
If it is a fairy tale those event would just happen in the book.
If it were real some one would have noticed and written something about it, but there is NOTHING in the historical record, a major earthquake and an army of Zombies and no mention of it outside of the collection of fairy tales!
Important functions yes but hardly positions of Authority over your church, so I take it that you are confirming that your family run your church and that is the only reason you were appointed Deacon

Of course, I'm sure that, unlike the first century, whose every document has been perfectly preserved and found alongside absolute archaeologial proof, my trip to the Rockies is probably less believable

A few points....
When was Josephus born?
When did jesus allegedly die?
He does not mention any earthquake or zombie army.
Then why so reluctant to tells us how large a part you family played in your appointment?

Putting aside the earth shaking, and the dead rising from their graves, for a moment, wasn't the earliest surviving biography of Alexander the Great written about four centuries after he was alive, by Diodorus of Sicily? And, come to think of it, aren't the Gospels of the Bible a lot more believable than the gnostic "gospels" of Thomas, or of the Cross? You'd think they'd want to add those gnostic gospels, if the Bible was a work of fiction... a talking cross? That's some good fiction, right there! Inanimate objects, unlike animals, can't communicate...

While it is true that the primary sources written by people who actually knew Alexander or who gathered information from men who served with Alexander, have for the most part been lost, there are still fragments and engravings such as a letter from Alexander to the people of Chios, engraved in stone, dated at 332 B.C.E. Not to mention the wealth of archaeological evidence to support his existence.

I think that as an unsaved person you have no idea what anyone's priorities should be. I quote to you Romans 13:1-3, where God tells you what your priorities should be in relation to authority, and what the purpose of authority is:

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:

For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
