Hi all,
I am here because I want to learn.
Officially I'm a Christian. I probably am not though. Christianity has left the space reserved as "my religion" in my life.
I don't have a name for 'what' I am (regarding religions), but I figured a good time ago that I don't need it anyway. The things that I do that originate from my true intentions don't need a label for me to remember myself to do them. In other words: one can be good without someone else telling him to do so. At least, that's what I think.
Don't take any of the above (or below) as arrogant, that's the problem with talking about yourself: it's really hard to not make it become arrogant. I read a lot of material from quite a few religions, and so it's only logical to also read landoverbaptist. I thought it was about time I'd make a forum account
.
I don't intend to advocate anything, at all. I will try to avoid jumping right into debates that attack one's beliefs or 'request' a proof or say a presented form of 'proof' is false. It's a waste of time and it completely misses the point either of the discussing people was trying to make.
In short: I think we all agree on how we should treat each other. Like politics, some things should be kept to yourself. In my opinion.
And thus, I try to read these forums as any other reading material; ignoring that in some situations it's actually a heated debate. I find the conversations here often far too hostile.
For the record:
- I don't believe in God. I'm sure however that I can translate certain things in my thoughts to 'God' so we can talk about the same underlying stuff.
- I do believe this world is far more complex than we think.
- I don't place every non-believer behind a label of 'Science'. It's not that simple.
- I don't place every believer behind a label of 'Christian'. It's not that simple.
I could call myself a Buddhist, but to non-Buddhists it would take some time to explain it. You think you know the deal , but you don't. But once you know, you say to yourself that you already knew that but thought completely different about it when it was in 'Buddhist' form (fill on any religion). And I'm sure it's the same with Christianity. Any religion is alien when you're not 'in it'. Once your in, every human on this planet knows what you're talking about.
Religion is a human language.

I'll stop adding things to my post, let this post sail for a while first...
