Is there really a big difference? I ask because nobody has ever told me if there was or not. It is the NIV, it was given to me by an old friend when he found out I was changing my life. Should I be reading from a different version, if so please guide me into the right direction Brother John.

You can throw that in garbage right now. Is there a difference? Is there a difference between going to Heaven or burning in Hell (Which is where you'll end up if you keep reading that perversion of God's word).

I'm going to cut you some slack seeing as you are truly unaware. Any True Christian™ reads only from the King James Version (or KJV1611). It is the only accurate translation of God's word - the rest are perversions and have been manipulated, and we do NOT manipulate Gods word.

Deuteronomy 4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

Deuteronomy 12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
Proverbs 30:6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

You should be able to get a free copy from any True Baptist church - I suggest you do this sooner than later.

Thank you for the info Brother John, I will be stopping off at the Christian Bookstore here in Raleigh this afternoon and replacing the NIV copy I have been carrying around with a KJV. I had no clue that the NIV was not truly the word as it was meant to be read. But rest assured I will be replacing it and calling my friend back home in Mississippi to let him know he should do the same.
