Greeting and salutations. Merry met and blessed be. I'm Professor Darren Ingram-Myers, and I believe that my inner light (or as liberal Quakers would say, that of Mother/Father God in each of us) has led me to your forum to find a caring and inclusive community of faith.
A little about me: I teach cultural studies at a liberal-arts college. I figure that it's a good way to subvert the dominant paradigm of corporate conservative consumerist capitalism in the minds of today's youths. Since my students come almost exclusively from middle- to upper-income backgrounds, they have a dismayingly high rate of false consciousness, but then, it's in my job description to show them how to have right minds.
When I'm not teaching or writing articles for publication, I like to work for social justice, volunteer at the organic co-op (just a short ride on the No. 8 bus from the student ghetto, in case you'd like to stop by), and go mountain biking.
About the monicker: I used to be just plain old Darren Myers, but I decided to hyphenate the last name I got from my father with my wife's mother's maiden name to do my part against the patriarchy. I guess that makes Myers my maiden name, doesn't it?
Anyway, I look forward to dialoguing with all of you. Peace out!
