[Smiter of Heathens]

Good morrow kind folk. I am introducing myself as the Smiter of Heathens. ALL heathens. My local church, is Holy Innocents, Belair, praise The Lord. I am fortunate to live a reasonably heathen free suburb, due to the wild animals keeping their numbers down.

Deut. 3:1-7
“Then we turned and went up the road to Bashan; and Og king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei. 2 And the Lord said to me, ‘Do not fear him, for I have delivered him and all his people and his land into your hand; you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon.’
3 “So the Lord our God also delivered into our hands Og king of Bashan, with all his people, and we attacked him until he had no survivors remaining. 4 And we took all his cities at that time; there was not a city which we did not take from them: sixty cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan. 5 All these cities were fortified with high walls, gates, and bars, besides a great many rural towns. 6 And we utterly destroyed them, as we did to Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying the men, women, and children of every city. 7 But all the livestock and the spoil of the cities we took as booty for ourselves."

Hello, young man. Are you still a practicing hebe? Or have you improved yourself and become a real Christian? Someone with your impressive knowledge of God's Word surely knows this was an account of the joos, directed by God through Moses. But you already knew that.

Yes... well... we leave most (not all) of the smiting to the Armed Forces of America - The World's Neighborhood Cop.

More to the point, I note that you misquote the Bible KJV 1611: I suspect that this is some man-made travesty that portrays Our Lord, The Creator of the Universe and Destroyer of Abominations as some sort of liberal, guilt-fueled hippy.

I thought the KJV was the correct tome sir. I am not a hebe (New Zealand hardy shrub) nor am I in the church when the Women are speaking. The Anglicans are part of the Church of England which commissioned the KJV1611 (tick), the church facilities are out of my control as they rebult after a old skool smiting from a bush fire. With respect to Job 13:7, yes, if it helps smite unbelievers.

I think that may suffice.

I think your female mind might be a bit taxed, Sister, it is God who does the smiting, not you. I've never met a Australian who could command bears or bring on a bad case of piles.

A tentative welcome, SOH. Nice verse selection.

I myself prefer 2 Chronicles 25:12...

"And other ten thousand left alive did the children of Judah carry away captive, and brought them unto the top of the rock, and cast them down from the top of the rock, that they all were broken in pieces."

This verse reminds me of the tenacity and great lengths to which God's Children will go to carry out His Will--even at the loss of life and limb!
