Re: Hello
Think about what you just said.
What is the Rosary? The Angelus? Where are they found?
Hint: In The Catholic Book of Prayer. When I used to say "Hail Holy Queen, etc etc, I was not just mouthing words. It was a prayer.
Before you get your righteous indignation all aboil, please note one thing. I am ex-Catholic. (That is not a joke - that is reality). For years, that institution brought me hope, peace, and comfort - and then I started to recognize that GOD will not condone an organization that allows the horrors that it allowed to go unpunished. I have had many people tell me "Oh, you can't blame the entire church. Just those rogue priests." Rogue? Do you have any idea how many there have been through the years? Do a search either in this forum or on the web. The numbers might shock you. I'll tell you this: it is WAY more than what you may have heard on the news. For instance, lesbian nuns and little girls - heard of that much? It happened.
Prayer for Mary's intervention is NOT taught anywhere but in the traditions of the church. The cathechism is not a Bible, though much (not all) of it was based on Biblical teachings. If my Bible tells me that it is good for instruction to learn the ways of GOD, and it tells me to "Study the scriptures," not "Study the scriptures and - oh, hey - like, study these things that these here guys tell you, too," I believe the Bible is enough. Enough.
Have you been to Rome? Within a very short distance of the Vatican, you will find people unsure of where their next meal is coming from. Yet billions of dollars flow into the church annually. Catholic charities do a great work all over the world - but they barely touch the iceberg of what they could do if they chose to give up some of the ornate, needless crap that goes into the cathedrals, basilicas, and small churches.
There is a reason the current pope is leaning toward more liberal ideas and it's not because he has a hotline to Jesus. It's because people are leaving the church in droves. Not only because of the whole sex scandal; for many, that is old news (even though I guarantee you these things are still happening). No, it's because of the ridiculous things that have been perpetuated through the years in the dogma of the church. The only way to attract people back to the church or to attract new members is to relax the rules. Sure, let's let the priests marry. (Which I think is good, don't get me wrong) Let's tell people that GOD will be ok with them regardless of how they live their lives or what they believe (if you follow the Bible, that's far from true).
Sorry those of you that are used to my usual style of posting. This is one that I can't kid about.
