Obviously that's no better than Italian. But I lived in Italy for 5 years and never once saw a Goth. It's about the only good thing you can say about the place. So someone is not telling us the whole truth here.

I am a Goth, and as a Goth I know more about the Goth subculture than you people, like you, who haven't done their research about it or been involved in it.

Wow. Just wow. You couldn't be more spectacularly wrong in your assumptions about our knowledge. I personally have spent an entire weekend participating in a "Goth and your teen" workshop at Freehold Bible College, taught by Isaac Peters himself!

I now know more than I ever wanted to about the goth subculture!

Are there any other misconceptions I can clear up for you?

Though Italy does and has had a Goth scene since Goth music first started.

Danielle Fiore is a Gothic/Medieval model living in Italy. I'm not sure if she actually listens to any Goth music, but if there is a niche for Gothic modeling in Italy, that would imply there is some kind of Goth interest in the country.

Neon were an Italian Darkwave band (not the only one I might add) formed in 1979. Only one year after Goth music started. Klonavenus are also an Italian one man Darkwave band, fronted by a Goth named Saffio. Chants of Maldoror, The Frozen Autumn, Static Movement, Thelema, Other Voices, Deafear, etc., are some other Italian Goth bands.

Drammagothica, Inner Shrine, Mandragora Scream, Settima Draconis, Dakrua, The Foreshadowing, Alice in Darkland, are Italian Gothic Metal bands. Obviously, Italy is not completely lacking in Goths.

And I'm honestly surprised that you're not trying to mistakenly lump Lacuna Coil in with Goth, as that happens a lot. But you must not be if you think there are no Goths in Italy.

Just because you went to a "workshop" calling itself Goth doesn't mean that it was actually Goth. Pray tell, what was so Goth about it? Was it all about the history of Goth music, which every "Christian" on here seems to know nothing about? Your knowledge of Goth is laughable, as is evidenced by all the claims made by the Christians on this forum, many of which were addressed in my introduction. How can Christians say they know what Goth is, when they are lumping all Rock and Metal in with Goth, claiming that Goth is a code word for lesbian, that Goths eat babies, are all homosexual, all fat, wear only black, are all on drugs, are all prostitutes, are all Satanists, are responsible for school shootings, are obsessed with vampires (did you know the elder Goths actually hate the vampire theme and often refuse to even acknowledge Goth bands that sing about vampires constantly and say those bands are not Goth because that is not what Goth was about?), drink blood, etc., etc., etc., ?

I have looked at the school shootings you Christians claim were done by Goths, and there is no evidence that any of the people involved were fans of Goth music. The only one that actually mentioned music at all was Columbine, and those kids listened to bands that are not Goth, and that most Goths cannot even stand to listen to.

If you are calling bands that do not play Goth music Goth bands, and calling people who do not listen to Goth music Goths then I'm sorry, but you do not know what Goth is. If you are calling anyone or any band Goth based on anything other than the music, then you do not know what Goth is.

Am I supposed to care? The only thing I care about is the unfounded lies you people are spreading about the Goth scene, with no evidence or proof whatsoever. This has nothing to do with religion.

Goth is music. It isn't Satanists, it isn't drugs, it isn't prostitution, it isn't self mutilation or depression, it is not being obsessed with vampires or drinking blood, it's not anti-social, it's not school shootings and murder, it's not eating babies. It's not dressing in only black or wearing any specific type of jewelry. It is not Black Metal, Heavy Metal, or crappy mainstream rock with chugga chugga guitars. It is it's own genre of music, so you cannot use other genres as evidence of how Goth is "evil" or "satanic."

Goth is just music.

None of the things you have mentioned necessarily have anything to do with religion. I'm not even sure what some of those are, and I'd rather you didn't educate me on the subject as I'm sure it's probably something lewd and disgusting that no sane Goth would be interested in.

You can prove none of these things are anything that more than one or two Goths do, and obviously you cannot just an entire group numbering in thousands by what a few idiots may do, anymore than you can judge the entire human race by what Christians do. I'd be surprised if you could prove that even ONE Goth anywhere in the world has done anything decent ever, except maybe "inter-racial marriage" or "self mutilation." But self mutilation has more to do with wanting attention or being depression, not with what music you listen to.

As I said, Goths are just fans of Goth music. Nothing more, nothing less. That is the only thing that makes someone a Goth. The only thing you can correctly assume about someone based on them being Goth, is that they listen to Goth bands.
