There's only one way to read the Bible, and that is to read the whole thing. How can you defend, that its okay just to read the parts you fancy? I understand you are confused - i did not expect you to get my point. Immigrant is a problem. Immigrants are not the only problem. Many of the immigrant are here because they cant live in their own country. For many reasons. We open up our country for them, cause we are in general good people. They are here, so are we. We must learn to understand how to makes things work so that we can live a good life together. I dont want them to belive ind the same God as me, but if we can live next to each other in peace, im fine. We need to learn how to do it, they need to learn how to do... and Landovers... well... enough already said.

Do you see the words: "...understand the meaning of"??? Thats a very subject thing buddy. In another thread i posted a poem, innocent poem about love. My point was that any of us in here, would read the same words, the same phrases. But the overall meaning of the poem... well that depends on whos reading it. But no one did reply to that.

We read the Bible word by word, and therefor we do not see it a certain way. We see everything God has written.

First of all, it was not god and it is actually not just one book, but put together by 66 different books written by at least 39 authors over a period of 1,500 years...

Second, the KJV bible is a translation of a translation of a copy of the original scriptures, there is allways lost something in translation, so the scriptures that are closest to the originals are those in Hebrew, as the original scriptures was written in that language.

Third, even a single sentence can be understood in a myriad of ways by different people...

For example, Australians speak English so we should be able to understand them... But if an Australian says to you "Im gay today" You would most likely understand it as "im homosexual today" while he ment "im happy today"... Small differences in language and culture can mean HUGE differences of how people understands the same words.

We're all concerned with the English and their failure to master their own language, so I understand your hesitation, however the Bible was not translated by one person, it was translated by groups of scholars so there was like an oversight committee to catch any stupid errors.
