Gender of the Baby

As you know, I am pregnant again and I really hope so bad that it will be a son this time.
As I heard now, it is possible to know the gender of a baby before it is born. Has anyone experience with such a so called amniocentesis or ultrasound? Is it decent? I really would like to know if I am expecting a little soldier for Jesus, but I am not sure, if I would commit a sin.

I am not quite sure, but it sounds like divination or dowsing. You know, the gypsies say they can hold a rock on a string above your stomach, and tell you you're pregnant with a girl if it swings in a circle (representing a lady hole) and if it swings in a straight line (representing a tallywacker) you're having a boy.

I am know you know what the Bible says about witchcraft.

So really, how is an ultrasound any less a form of witchcraft?

I can understand how eagerly you want a son just as I can understand the frustration of any mother having given birth to a daughter. But remember what’s written in The Bible:

Matthew 21:22
22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

John 14:13
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

John 15:7
7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you

So, if you don’t get a son, you haven’t prayed enough, or you prayed the wrong way, or you were weak in faith while praying. Or the other way around, if you just follow the instructions of the LORD you will have a son. No ultrasound can do that for you.

You are right, thank you for the answers . I will have faith in our Lord, that he will give me a son this time and pray even more than I already do. I have to say, to my bad, that I was really... tempted to know about it. I will tell my husband, so he can punish me in the correct way for having such sinful thoughts. I will trust in God's decision, as he is almighty and allknowing and decides what is best.

I have just turned 54 and Mr. Keeper and I are still praying very hard for a child. If the good Lord cursed me with a girl child I would rather remain childless.

Well, with ultrasound you can have a clear image of the baby and a specialist will see with the help of the image if it's a girl or a boy. Nothing of divination.

btw there's nothing in the bible about ultrasounds, so you can use it. Like Joshua said: you can do stuff if god didn't say "you can't do that".

Friend, screaming at the unborn baby will not do anything. Instead, have your wife simply read the Bible to him. God will choose if you deserve a son.

I think so, Brother Hopkins, But I'm not really certain as it is not my place to question him.

I do know, however, that he spends an awfully long time in the bathroom by himself before we get on our knees to pray together.

Why haven't you just asked Jesus?

This is a pretty naive question, and one that your husband should have answered. He will have forbidden it, and you come here hoping that we will contradict both your husband and The Lord.

He will tell you that ultrasound is a process where some male stranger has you strip to the waist, spread your legs like you did for your husband, and then squirt gobs of slimey fluid over your belly - if you want a masked stranger to to that? Go ahead, but don't come back whining when you are divorced.

You realize that there are 7 Billion off us on this planet and that each one of us came here in the same way that God will bless you with a child? So common is this phenomenon, that The Lord has no interest in a child or its sex until it is one month old:

Le:27:1: And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
...
Le:27:6: And if it be from a month old even unto five years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male five shekels of silver, and for the female thy estimation shall be three shekels of silver.

During that first month Jesus has dibs on it - sometimes he casts it into Hell because it shows no signs of accepting Him, other times it is granted the Gift of continuing life.

Come back with your question if the child makes it past one month and is a boy.
