In my role as Pastor for Diversity and Tolerance, many people (not from Landover but Democrats and the reptiles of lieberal media) have criticized the role that women play in Church life. Well, this is garbage. Women do not have any role in Landover and so there is nothing to be criticized.
However, that is not to say that we do not take women’s attendance at Landover as an important part of the body of the Church. Women tithe as much as men – we must not forget that – and although we must not forget that you can’t buy your way into Heaven, nevertheless God’s Work does not come free. Even Jesus needed money (Joh:12:6)
Because they are important in Christian life, women must at all time be subject to what men consider best for them – and no effort or expense should be spared in carrying out God’s Commands.
Therefore it was in 1932 that the Advisory Committee on Biblical Womanhood was instigated.
Immediately, it was decided that married women could accompany their husband to church should that husband so wish. This was revolutionary at the time but Pastor Lamentations Flint was adamant that this is what God ordained when He forbade women to speak in church. And there is, of course Scriptural support for Women seeing their husband as Christ, and so it is appropriate that that vision should come to them in church.
As early as 1974, the second momentous decision was made by the committee: widows could attend church! There was much opposition to this but Mrs Rita Chevrolet, widow of multi-millionaire, James B. Chevrolet III (and the sole heiress to his estate), was represented by Pastor Lamentations Flint and the motion was passed.
And with it went the restriction on women speaking within one mile of the church – this was reduced to the utopian 100 yards from the church!
However, I thought that the formality of the committee was still somewhat intimidating to women and therefore in 1979, I proposed a more accessible image.
I am pleased to announce today that the motion passed and here is the “New Committee” who will consider the role of women in the church. They are altogether a more modern and inclusive set of pastors. I hope the men of the congregation will welcome them and aid with their mission.
