City commissioners in Kissimmee, Florida are considering adding "In God We Trust" to their town seal.

Why? PATRIOTISM!

Commissioner Art Otero, who proposed the addition, said he was prompted to suggest the change because he doesn’t agree with the direction the country is going under the Obama administration, which he referred to as “socialist.” He said his initiative was not based on faith but on patriotism.

Atheists are up in arms. One wag spits forth this bile:

Mr. Otero has an issue. Well, he has several, but what’s coming to mind is this:

• Saying “In God We Trust” has nothing to do with love of country. Atheists, Buddhists, and Hindus do not trust in God, but can all be equally patriotic.
• Patriotism has nothing to do with socialism. While I do personally agree with Mr. Otero that we’re moving down a socialist path and I don’t like it either, that doesn’t mean that socialists aren’t patriotic.
• Socialism has nothing to do with rejecting God. Many socialists are people of faith, and some are fundamentalists.

In short, adding “In God We Trust” to their logo says nothing about patriotism or the nation’s economic model. It says, quite simply, “We all believe in a specific god, whom we have cleverly named ‘God’.”

And what would atheists like to see? They suggest this hateful image:





They've even set up their own atheist poll to mock God, asking whether it should say "In God We Trust", or "Cthulhu Fhtagn", or "There is one God, and His prophet is Moohamhead", or any number of other vile things.


So, I'm doing my own poll here! What do you think?

What do you expect from a town named after injuns – they should be more concerned about putting the pronunciation of their town on the sign - "ki-'si-mē", or better yet "Named after Injuns".

I think that Hindu cow needs to go, too, and a nice Bible put in its place. And that "Jesus Country" is much more clear that it's a Christian town, not a place for Jews and the like!

Friends, I contacted Cafepress to have the above filth removed. They responded with some nonsense about free speech!

I checked the site again, and it's gotten far worse. I, for one, am going to be sick.

Hindoo? With that black beard it looks more like a Mooslim to me.

I voted "get rid of the cow". What's the message they are trying to get across? "In Moo-hammed we trust"? Lose the cow and replace it with a picture of a cross, a KJV1611 or a Baptist Church. That's what I would do.
