However, he recently sat down with that toothless ignorant Brit, Piers Morgan and discussed scripture. He finally was cornered and admitted that (shock of all shocks) homosexuality is a sin! Wow! Big surprise, Joel. Welcome to the 21st century! But, much to my dismay, he immediately starts to backpedal. From the interview:
In response to Morgan's direct question, "Is homosexuality a sin?" Osteen had this to say: "Yes, I've always believed, Piers, the scripture shows that it's a sin." Osteen continued by saying that he had no desire to "bash" homosexuality or play the role of judge. He was then pressed further on the issue by Morgan who brought up his friend, Elton John, who recently had a surrogate child with his partner, David Furnish. "Why are they sinners in your eyes?" he asked. Osteen's response:
Is he FINALLY starting to see the light? At LEAST he agrees that you either accept EVERYTHING in the Bible as the word of God or you reject it all. "Perhaps there is hope for him," I thought. But, sadly, no...
Really, Joel? You have 7,000,000 followers and you don't even know that God tells you to judge others?
Some people are just idiots.
- Osteen says that he "chooses to focus on the goodness of God rather than sin." (As we all know, the Bible is nowhere close to being about love.)
- In answer to questions raised over why he does not include many Bible verses in his books, he says that he sees himself as more of a prophet. We all know what happens to THOSE people:
Deuteronomy 18:20-22
20But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. 21And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken? 22When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

Well, it's strictly back to what the scripture says. I mean, I can't grab one part and say God wants you to be blessed and live an abundant life, and not grab the other part that says, you know what? You know, live that kind of life.
So it comes back to the scripture. I'm not the judge. You know, God didn't tell me to go around judging everybody.

- John 7:24 "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment."
- 2nd Timothy 4:1-2 "I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine."
