The Arch Gook in Thailand apparently elevates himself to a level somewhere above GOD, as any criticism or defamation of his character or politics is punishable by imprisonment, as an American citizen has found out.
The biography in question is called THE KING NEVER SMILES, by Paul M. Handley.
I am reminded of a certain amazing-but-true Bible story involving three young men who refused to bow down before an enormous Freudian statue made in the image of Nebuchadnezzar.
He was a big, powerful king too, and he ordered everybody to bow down to the graven image he made of himself:
Then the princes, the governors, and captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together unto the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.
Then an herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, O people, nations, and languages,
That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up: - Daniel 3:3-5
Sound familiar?

There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Then they brought these men before the king.
Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up? - Daniel 3:12-14
Three Jews failed to worship the egomaniac and he flew into a foaming rage, like Thailand's dog-eating Monarchs.
I don't want to give Thailand any ideas here, but Shadrach, Meshach, and Abnego were sentenced to burn in a fiery furnace, which Nebuchadnezzar promptly had heated to seven times its normal temperature to receive these three True Christians.
Fortunately, GOD goes into the fiery furnace with the three young men and makes a real fool out of King Nebuchadnezzar, just like he makes a fool out of any King who props himself up as a deity...
And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;
That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. - Revelation 19:16-18
It's too bad Thailand isn't a True Christian government whose resources could be better spent finding and jailing people who distribute books like God is not Great and Origin of Species.
BANGKOK - A court in Thailand sentenced a U.S. citizen to two-and-a-half years in prison Thursday for defaming the country's royal family by translating excerpts of a locally banned biography of the king and posting them online.
The verdict is the latest so-called lese majeste punishment handed down in the Southeast Asian kingdom, which has come under increasing pressure at home and abroad to reform harsh legislation that critics say is an affront to freedom of expression.
