  • Labor Day in the U.S.A.--A Day to Oppose Labor Unions

Every Labor Day you will find articles in your local newspaper lauding labor unions. "They've done so much for us" is the refrain.

Let's get to the real truth. In the Bible Jesus had twelve employees. They are called disciples. They were not unionized. Instead, they worshiped their boss and did what he told them to do. This is the Bible's lesson in what we now call "labor relations."

So this Labor Day, I urge all you who are employees to rededicate yourselves to your boss and his company. Stop arguing for higher pay, complaining about your job site, the dirty break room and your work load. The disciples did not make those complaints and Jesus does not want you to either.

    Happy Labor Day.
Isaiah 24:1-3 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty (2)...as the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. (3) The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken his word.

    Amen, Brother Hold.

What I would like to complain about, is that on LABOR day - you know, the one day of the year dedicated to the ethos of work - I went out to do some shopping and none of the downtown stores were open! I'm shocked! If people are not willing to work on LABOR day, how can we expect anyone to work on any other day?!

Nonetheless, I must say I am grateful we're not celebrating Labor Day on May 1 like the rest of the world. That makes us special and unique.
God created fossils to test our faith.

Canada coughs quietly in the background. "Still misspelling it, too, eh".

And don't even think about reporting the boss to the authorities for 50 pieces of silver. DON'T. EVEN. THINK. ABOUT. IT.

Re: Labor Day in the U.S.A.--A Day to Oppose Labor Unions

Back when I had my office job, I would always turn the air conditioner off when my supervisor was out on vacation. Who cares if the other employees are comfortable? It did my heart good to know I was saving the company a little bit of money. The other employees complained about it being hot all the time but none of them other than the supervisor even knew how to work the air conditioner.

I turned it back on when he got back. I think he secretly knew what I was doing because he could have told other employees how to fix it but kept giving them bad or vague advice when he got back.

One of my lazy coworkers got heat stroke one day. Fortunately, she was a temp and the company was able to get out of paying worker's comp and other benefits. I don't know what she was even doing in the office. Plus, we shared an office space (you can imagine how bad that was. Always having to answer the dumb question and hear her rattling on about her kids) so doing that gave me more space for me. I don't know if she quit or if she was terminated or couldn't come back due to medical reasons or whatever but I didn't see her in again after that.

Look, the moral here is it's about what you can sacrifice for your employer. You work for them, they don't work for you.
Close minded people are just right people who don't want to spend time arguing.

I tend sit out on all this socialist nonsense, before I realize that I'm sitting on God's time and I jump right back to work.
