    Women in Church

As Christmas approaches numbers in the congregation will increase to "standing-room only." And many of the congregation will bring their wives, mothers, sisters and daughters with them (and, we suspect, there will be a fair few spinsters looking for a husband!)So this is probably a good time to remind people of God's Command that women should cover their head:

    1 Corinthians 11:5
And every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head, for it is just as if her head were shaved.

    1 Corinthians 11:6
For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.

    1 Corinthians 11:7
A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man.

Timely advice, Pastor Bathfire. Women, especially tall women, should be reminded there may be men sitting behind you who need an unobstructed view of Pastor Zeke. Covering the hair with something small is always best.
Isaiah 24:1-3 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty (2)...as the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. (3) The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken his word.

This is excellent advice, dear Brother Mayor Hold. For what it's worth, I find it's always best to wear a hat that frames the face fashionably — and yet, tastefully — such as this:

That's an interesting hat, Sister - though perhaps it was a little flamboyant for a woman of that age. I do wonder what purpose those little metallic bits served. Was she remote-controlled in her later years?

That's a very real possibility about that woman being remote-controlled, dear Sister Joanna. I hadn't thought of that; but, then, I remembered a time when some women (supposedly) were picking up radio signals, due to their strange hats:

And, then, there is a chance that the older woman in my first photo has a sweet tooth, and that she requested her milliner to discreetly place candied violets at strategic places on her bonnet — for those times when a little pick-me-up is needed. That might seem a bit far-fetched, I will admit; but, there are other women with similar confectionery-themed apparel:

Never imagined that I would defend Princess Beatrice's hat from the 2011 Royal Wedding*, but as one can see from the image on the right, the silly wallpaper-motif-come-to-life at least had a clear opening through the center. If I had photo-altering abilities, I would display Pastor Zeke's handsome face in the middle of this fancy oval frame.

I have to admit that I laughed like crazy the first time I read Paul talking about women prophesying. Who would believe a woman's prophesy, covered head or not? LOL. Well, maybe the Corinthians would have; they were so messed up that Paul had to send missives straightening them out twice.

Paul bore a serious message, but he also had quite a sense of humor. Probably because, before he saw the light, he was Jewish.

Fruit is for eating, not wearing:

Ge:1:29: And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
