  • What's the big deal about virgin birth?

Could one of the men explain something to me?

Was the virgin birth of Jesus a miracle because he was the first virgin birth? Of is the virgin birth thing just a catholic superstition? Because virgins births may be a miracle, but it's not like they're rare or anything. My Abstinence group has not only had many virgin pregnancies, but even virgin pregnancies that disappear. I guess God just wanted to give the girls that pretty pregnant look, be He didn't want to give them stretch marks.

God seems to be especially fond of creating mulattos through virgin births. I can understand why, the little mongrels are cute enough, and obviously God wants to avoid the sinful alternative way of creating mulattos.

Re: What's the big deal about virgin birth?

Our Lord was indeed born of a virgin:

Luke 1:26-27: And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name [was] Mary.

The virgin birth of Our Lord fulfilled a prophecy in the Old Testament:

Isaiah 7:14-16: Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good. For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings.

Ignore the God-mockers who say that the Hebrew word עלמה doesn't actually mean "virgin," that Mary named Jesus Jesus and not Immanuel, that the Second Person of the Holy Trinity would have always known to refuse the evil and choose the good, or that that bit about the two kings didn't happen in the infancy of Our Lord. Are you going to believe a bunch of LIE-beral "scholars" over the Holy Gospels? I didn't think so.

Finally, the virgin birth of Our Lord should not be confused with the "immaculate conception" of Mary, which is a papist myth.

Actually virgin births are by no means a "miracle"; in fact they happen in the animal kingdom! In one of the few cases of secular science proving the reality of Christianity, parthenogenesis (the scientific name for virgin birth) has been well-documented.

Various species have given virgin birth, including sharks. Why is it so hard to imagine that if God can make sharks, lizards, fish, and other creatures give virgin birth, why couldn't He make a human do so as well?

Thank you, Pastor Peters, for putting forth good, solid, biblical support for virgin birth.

For the life of me I was beginning to have doubts about the virginness of Mary. I just couldn't bring myself to believe Joseph hadn't been "sniffing around" the baby tunnel a few months earlier.

My doubts now cleansed, I will repair to my study to delve even deeper into the KJV1611.
