I saw this picture on Ray Comfort’s Facebook page. Unlike most of what Ray says this, unfortunately, is not entirely true. There is one tribe so primitive it’s atheist – the Piraha of the Amazon. In 1977 an American missionary was sent to convert them, but the tribesmen ended up turning the missionary away from God so that he is now an atheist. Obviously, he had never been a True Christian™ in the first place (Jn 10:27-29). But the Piraha are atheist, perhaps because they are so isolated from the banana-growing regions of South America. They have no word for God in their language and they say they don’t believe in any kind of Supreme Being and apparently don’t have a creation myth. Of course, if they really didn’t believe in God, that would contradict Romans 1:18-32, which says everyone knows deep down that God exists because He has revealed Himself through nature and those who deny His existence worship nature. So the Piraha are without excuse just like everybody else. To be fair, the Piraha do believe in spirits which only they can see, which must be demons. After listening to the missionary’s “de-testimony” on YouTube, I find no compelling reason for his doubt.
Atheists like to pretend they're so smart, but really they're no more advanced than the primitive Piraha. Daniel Everett, the ex-missionary, claims the Piraha are happy the way they are, without God. But this is impossible. True happiness comes from having been corrected by God and fearing Him. The Piraha don’t know how miserable they are.
Job 5:17-18 Behold, happy [is] the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty: for he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.
Prov 28:14 Happy [is] the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.
I should probably let Mr Comfort know about his mistake. He is usually very good about apologizing for and retracting things he said that weren’t true.
