Default Day 149. Job 25-27 - 06-06-2008, 07:56 PM

Job 25-27

Today we get
  • Bildad answers, briefly
  • Job talks about God's greatness
  • Job talks about his own righteousness

Job 25

Bildad answers Job.

4 How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?

Bildad says basically a passage in Romans.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Bildad says that everyone needs God's salvation. We can't be saved by ourselves. Interestingly, if Job takes place BEFORE Moses, then the list of clean and unclean hasn't been set forth yet.

A person being born of a woman wouldn't be unclean yet and require the sacrifice offering (turtle doves) because it hasn't been given to Moses on Sinai yet.

6 How much less man, that is a worm? and the son of man, which is a worm?

Bildad did not just call Jesus (son of man) a worm, no matter how much it seems like he did. Jesus ascended into heaven, he did not become worm-food.

Job 26

Job responds.

4 To whom hast thou uttered words? and whose spirit came from thee?

Job thinks his friend might be possessed by a demon. He also wants to make sure that Bildad isn't going around saying these things to others, because he would lead them to hell.

7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.

This is a Bible verse (KJV1611) that Dr. Carl Baugh likes to bring up to show that God made everything. "hangeth the earth upon nothing" he says shows the earth is suspended in heaven. He says this was written thousands of years before it became an accepted scientific statement.

8 He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.

The Bible (KJV1611) understands how rain works, (again) thousands of years before the rest of modern science.

14 Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand?

Job mentions about how little is known of God, but isn't that the sign of a great movie? The fact that you don't know it's a movie. When you don't know the play is going on around you, that it's all fake, isn't that a great sign of power? Think back to the movie The Truman Show. The greatness of the creator was shown in his ability to NOT be recognized, as opposed to being noticed.

Job 27

Job continues:

3 All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils;

Job says as long as he lives, he won't speak any wickedness or say a bad thing against the LORD.

5 God forbid that I should justify you: till I die I will not remove mine integrity from me.

Job will never admit to doing something he didn't do. To admit to a fault that isn't there, for a reward (of removing his pain) would cost him his integrity, and he just won't do that.

6 My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: my heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.

Job would rather DIE being right, than live being wrong.

8 For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God taketh away his soul?

Sure you may win the softball game using an illegal bat, but you have no integrity. You cheat at softball, what else do you cheat at? Or do you think you just did it that one time. You are either a cheater or not...

So what have we learned today?

1. Bildad knows that all have sinned, Job just doesn't know what his is.

2. Vain craftsmen put their signature on their work, God doesn't need to put his stamp on his creation.

Judges 9:21 And Jotham ran away, and fled, and went to Beer, and dwelt there, for fear of Abimelech his brother.
