Re: POLL: Freehold Man of the Year!

@all I did everything for this poll all by myself, so I am sure there has been no cheating! Again, congratulations Pastor Ezekiel!

Re: POLL: Freehold Man of the Year!

For the sake of transprarency, I will keep the citizens of Freehold up to date on progress in the investigation of the Award for Freehold Man of the Year event. City staff members are working through this holiday weekend to finish the review of what happened.

The first report they handed me involved the rules of the contest. I note with some interest that those who are Pastors or carry the title of "Rev." were to be excluded from running.

Having noted this, I wish to assure all involved that this is not the final decision in the matter. Many other factors will be reviewed. My hope is that thing will be resolved in short order.

You may have to send your checkbook with the houseboy to reimburse the city should the costs exceed the winner's prize.

Re: POLL: Freehold Man of the Year!

Late today, several of Mayoral Staff came in to see me. They closed the door.

They wanted to know if I had sought guidence from Jesus, or, from the Bible when I set up the Freehold Man of the Year event. I could hardly look them in the eye. Back when the event was first planned, I considered it to be a secular thing--something Mayors did as a matter of course. Somehow, the wisdom often provided me, that there really are no secular events, had escaped me.

I think the staff is slowing getting to the bottom of what happened in the Freehold Man of the Year Event.

              Mayor,

I can appreciate this may take some time to sort out and will be as patient as I possibly can. However, IF it is determined that James is indeed the victor, I need some notice to get a celebratory party together; where of course EVERYONE in Freehold will be invited.

I was wondering, if you could let me know, perhaps by phone call, or even personal visit when the outcome has been realized. I merely need as much notice as possible to get the shin-dig I have in mind arranged.

Thank you and look forward to seeing or hearing from you.

              Mrs. Phebe Dewitt.

              Down here my sins forgiven,
Up there a home in heaven
Praise God, That's the way for me!!

Your request so typical of you, Mrs. Dewitt. Your are always ready to set a beautiful table for those fortunate enough to be there.

I will, indeed, let you know privately the outcome before it is made public. In the meantime, I am filled disappointment in myself that I did not consult with higher powers before opening up the Freehold Man of the Year event.

                  Oh Brother Johny,

Don't be too hard on yourself! Jesus I am sure would understand! You are such a good God fearing gentleman I can just imagine the Lord caressing you against His chest and soothing any upset out of you! I suppose the best thing to do in this situation is really take a good hard look at God's Will and realize that you are living up to all He wants you to be and to do!

God’s Will is for us to:
                  1) read His Word,
                  2) Consume His Word,
                  3) Worship Him,
                  4) Pray Daily,
                  5) Share the Gospel With Those Who Have Not Yet Heard,
                  6) Care for the sick and elderly,
                  7) Exemplify Jesus in our life,
                  8) Do everything we do as if we were doing for God alone,
                  9) Obey the laws of our land,
                  10) Meet with other believers on a regular basis,
                  11) Prepare for the return of the Lord Jesus,
                  12) Love our friends AND
                  13) our enemies,
                  14) Love God with your heart, soul, and mind.

You DO all these things Brother and then some!!

I don't know if it may help but if you do happen to be out here near our mansion in the next few hours, any of the 5 prayer closets over in the east wing will be available for your use! Perhaps spending some time there may help you with your quest for Truth as only Jesus would want it!

If you do opt to pop over, I will have some delicious warm pie ready to sustain you through your prayer sessions!

                  YIC

Report to Citizens, Freehold Man of the Year Inquiry

The staff at Freehold City Hall has completed its investigative work into the seemingly peculiar end of the polling the Freehold Man of the Year.

                        Findings:

                        1. The rules for the Freehold Man of Event were adequate, had the event been entirely secular. It turned out that the event may not have been entirely secular.

                        2. Campaigning for the title was ethical, given that there had been an oversight in drafting the rules.

                        3. The peculiar polling numbers right at the end of the polling period remains a mystery, increasing the likelihood that some manner of devine intervention took place.

CONCLUSION: The Mayor should have consulted a "higher power" before drafting the contest rules. For this oversight he extends his sincere apologies.

Freehold Man of the Year Results:

                        1. Mr. James Dewitt won the popular vote and is thus the people's choice for Freehold Man of the Year.

                        2. Pastor Zeke receives the title: God's Freehold Man of the Year. Pastor Zeke has received this title because he was not a candidate, yet received the most votes. There is only one explanation for this miraculous turn of events, divine intervention. It is clear that he is God's favorite for Freehold Man of the Year. God wanted Mr. DeWitt, on the other hand, to be choosen by the public.

This concludes the 2010 Freehold Man of the Year event.

Thank you again to all those who participated.
