But homosexuality is wrong. In fact God hates it so much it is an abomination. I don't see how you think there can ever be any fellowship between us on this issue so why not just push off. I notice you aren't attacking Jesus on bestiality, theft or murder. It's like you want us to choose which bits of God's will make you happy.

The idea we could all just stop believing in God and go to Hell just so you can make up laws based on thoughts you have in your head and say they are as valid as if they come from God... Well it sounds all nice and fluffy but I prefer to be certain that God will burn me if I sin and take God's word for it on what's wrong.

I want to be know for something great when I die, such as finding a cure for cancer or finding a way to bring the U.S out of debt for good or bringing peace to the world.

If God brings cancer to the world, why would you want to cure it?

Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.

God uses it to smite the likes of Christopher Hithens. Yes, sometimes babies are born with cancer but that is part of His plan. Who knows what abominations that child could have done if it had lived?

World peace sounds fine but is it really?

I think you want world peace to try to put off the return of Jesus because you know that when returns you will have to pay for your denial of Him.

Norway
Sweden
Denmark

Look at the U.S.A. compared to this country. U.S.A. is:

A lot of privatized accessories i.e. Health Care
Corrupt Government
Constantly invading countries

So now we can posit a question; just how is "happy" determined? Do you hook up a scientologist "E-Meter" and take a reading, or do you just ask people on a survey it they are happy or not?

It turns out that it is the corrupt UN that is turning out these numbers – all the while promoting one world government and socialism. One has to look a little deeper to see just what is going on here – like the per-capita consumption of alcohol, where your little "happy" countries are living in socialist workers "paradises" taking surveys while inebriated.

If you really want to see who is benefiting mankind, it is the Godly United States where discoveries and inventions lead the world by a factor of two.

I don't really get agnostics. It's like they think God will let them off if they come out with some sort of excuse at the end of their lives that because God didn't come right up to them and say, "Hello!" that excuses them for ignoring the mountain of evidence that is the Biblical account of all that God has said and done.

Gnostic refers to knowledge, theism refers to a belief in god/s.

You can be an agnostic atheist or an agnostic theist, depending on whether or not you believe in god/s.

Our LORD doesn't care one iota if you have knowledge of His divine existence or not. He only cares that you believe He exists, and subsequently accept His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, as your Savior and Master.

Recently I responded to a thread on the famous picture of Jesus sharing the arm of a heroin addict, and seeming to suffer because of it, as if taking that man's sin unto himself. I was then asked by a Muslim who happened to also be commenting on the photo if I have ever thought that I could be a follower of the ways of Islam. I did not know the man, so my reply was this.

My reply is as follows, and please feel free to read it and criticize me all you want. It is simply my belief, just as you have your own and your neighbor has his own beliefs. If my beliefs anger you, then you are welcome to leave a nasty comment below and unfriend me and fume to your like-minded friends about the stupidity of all atheists and in particular this ungracious slob of an idiot named Andrew Ryan. My ideas throughout this statement are sometimes half-formed and there may be loose ends which I never followed up on. In my defense, I rushed through typing it up and took probably about twenty minutes to half an hour writing it. I simply wrote what came to mind, and any sense of continuity in my writing was lost in the endless depths of my scatterbrained and oft-distracted, ADHD-afflicted brain. But I believe I do have some sense in this old noggin of mine, and that I may have a point in wherever this meandering thought process leads. If I was more passionate that the world should know my opinion, and stubbornly convinced that in order to truly lead a life of happiness, they must believe the same thing I do, then I would spend perhaps a month, a year, a decade, or more, developing each idea, adding new ones, and expanding all of them to bridge the gaps between each argument, and then publish a book about it for all to read. However, that would make my beliefs almost as fervent as an actual religion, and I can't have that, now can I? In truth, I believe that it does not matter what a person's religion is, that they can find happiness in life no matter what their beliefs are. True, some may be more restrictive of physical pleasure and self-indulgences than others, but happiness is something that humans instinctually seek, and just about every mentally healthy human being on this planet, if left to their own devices, will settle into some sort of pattern of living that is comfortable to them, if not mildly or even more gratuitiously pleasant and satisfying. Anyway, I apologize for my long-windedness (reminiscent of Polonius from the Shakespearian play Hamlet) but without further ado, I introduce to you my reply.

I am not telling you that God/Allah does not exist, I believe that it is very much possible that he does exist without my knowledge, based on the supposed omnipotent power which is purported to be an innate characteristic of this God/Allah. However, believing in possibilities is different than absolute belief. I do not believe that there is a realm outside of this world in which this supernatural being can reside, free from the laws of science. I have a scientific mind, and therefore I learn to accept the world around me through experience. If I put Newton's three laws into practice, I can see physical and mathematical evidence of their workings. Because I can see them effect nature in a concrete way, I can believe in them. I believe in them as facts, immune to any change in their properties that we humans might try to bring about. And everyone in the scientific community agrees that the world does operate according to those laws. The way I see it, facts don't change. When I consider religion, there are hundreds of different religions on this planet, and different sects even within each religion. Each religion swears they are the right religion, and throughout history, many of these religions have been formed by individuals claiming to have the new, final truth. If no one can agree upon religion, then how can it be truth? When Newton put forth his laws, he was at first ridiculed but eventually his ideas were accepted, and are still accepted today. Now, today, there is no single religious principle which is commonly accepted among all people who claim to be religious-minded. Does this mean that there is no universal principle? It is not possible for everyone to be right. If Islam is the correct religion, then that means Christianity is wrong. However, one seventh of the Earth's population would then be wrong if that is the case. And the same would be true if another religion was the "correct" one. This is why I believe that there is no religious truth. If a supernatural being indeed did create us, and had a purpose in mind, that being would have told us what it wanted us to do, and would be a constant mentor to us, just as we are constant mentors of our children after we "create" them and bring them forth into this world. In my opinion, religion is a man-made idea, which in the early days of its existence was used as a mechanism to placate the unhappy masses of peasants with promises of salvation in the afterlife, if only they would deprive themselves and remain satisfied with their lot in life. These prophets were men who believed that they were bringing a better moral code and a better belief system into the lives of the people they preached to. However, after they introduced their philosophies to the world, the higher echelons of society began to use it to promise that they would be given ultimate happiness in the afterlife, because it was too inconvenient for them to be rewarded with physical incentives in real life. This is my opinion of how large, organized religion, especially Christianity developed in its early years. I do not know enough about Judaism or Islam to make a judgment on those religions. Anyway, whatever the mechanism back then was intended to do, it is now obsolete, and now only the beliefs remain. This is my opinion, and you may judge me however you want to after reading this, but this is what my intuition tells me about religion. If I were to be spoken to directly from God/Allah, or if a miracle were to be performed in front of me, something that defied the laws of nature, etc. then I would most likely be convinced of the existence of a being of higher power. Until then, I rest my case."

The original post in this thread was a direct question TO Atheists, a group of people whom I happen to be a member of. So I am not only explaining
why I believe what I do, I also am explaining partially what gives my life purpose. I believe that this quote from Marcus Aurelius puts it much more succinctly.
