      Re: Are You an Atheist?

I have read parts of the New Testament, but the parts that appeal to me - and the parts that appeal to everyone, I think - are not the parts that I see being touted here. My question is not "How can I become a Christian?" because to me, that's not something I need to do in order to live a fulfilling life. My question is, "Why do you express so much animosity toward people who are simply trying to understand?"

To me, the fanaticism, the fire-and-brimstone, only serves to illuminate the Exit sign, and it alienates me from you. I believe that religion is designed to bring people together, not drive them apart. I don't see that happening here, and I have to wonder why.
Psalm 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

If you were a TRUE Christian(tm) you wouldn't let anything stand in the way of you reaching Christ. Your' nature would be like ours, you would HAVE to be part of Landover Baptist.

Time to reclaim our FREEDOM from the “Mullah in Chief” and his growing activist voter hoards of socialists, communists, anti-Semites, anti-Christians, atheists, radical gays and lesbians, feminists, illegal immigrants, Muslims, anti-Anglo whites and others.

You misread, then. I don't know it very well, but what I do know talks about love, compassion, forgiveness. This is the core of every major religion, whether it be Judaism, Christianity, Islam, or Hinduism. Even Wicca is founded on the golden rule, "Do no harm".

It's a sign of insecurity to defend your beliefs by attacking those of others. Certainly there are trolls (who ought to be ignored, rather than provoked), but there are also numerous atheists and agnostics who simply want to have a conversation. Telling these people that they're going to hell, calling these people monkey-worshipers, stops that conversation before it's even begun. It offers no promise of salvation, only a self-important elitist condemnation of what is ultimately a preference for a different kind of hat.

              Which
              religion?
ALL religion, in design and intent, is at its core a means to bring people together, to unite people and comfort them, not divide them and incense them to slaughter. If you believe your religion is there to prove that you are better than everyone else, that it is an excuse to condemn, attack, or harm those who do not share it, then you are no better than Hitler except in the scope of your crimes.

You're asking the wrong question. Start asking us how you can become a Christian, and we'll be able to reach an agreement.

Can every major religion get you into Heaven? No. Only we can do that. Don't look at the supposed similarities between religions, look at what makes them different - the fact that we can offer Salvation through Jesus Christ, and all others fail.
It offers no promise of salvation, only a self-important elitist condemnation of what is ultimately a preference for a different kind of hat.
Friend, that hat can doom those who wear it to an eternity of unbearable suffering in the Lake of Fire. We condemn Beelzebub's hat for a very good reason.

Stuff and nonsense. Our religion was designed by God to redeem sinners and give them a chance of salvation; all others were designed by Satan to mislead nitwits into voluntarily choosing eternal damnation.
If you believe your religion is there to prove that you are better than everyone else, that it is an excuse to condemn, attack, or harm those who do not share it, then you are no better than Hitler except in the scope of your crimes.
Friend, we follow God's word. Are you saying that Jesus was no better than Hitler?
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.

God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

The assertion isn't a religious one, but an anthropological one.

But I'm not going to get anywhere with you. You think it's a sin to question authority, which in your eyes already condemns me to an eternity of eating worms. I'm not looking to be brainwashed into this glorified Cult of God, and I'm not about to make Loving Donations to what amounts to the KKK. I'd tell you to have a nice day, but it seems to be against your religion to do so. So instead I'll tell you to go to hell.

                      From a non-believer, I imagine that's a compliment.

For the record, JennyD, I do know Pastor Ezekiel is a staff member. That's what horrifies me.

                        Re: Are You an Atheist?

                        Brethren and Sistern,
I revisited the title of this thread “Are You an Atheist” and Jesus planted a thought in my mind, A Godly voice (of well-modulated male tones and a mild Kansas accent) proclaimed unto me, “Bathfire, what if the Unsaved Trash and those who do not accept me, those who float like so many used condoms on the sewage pits of life, are embarrassed to take up Landover’s offer? What if they are ashamed that they have no faith?”

Thus advised, I cracked open KJV 1611 and the verse that faced me was,

M'r:10:14: But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.”

Now the unbelievers have the mental abilities of children, so the message was clear. We at Landover must make greater efforts to appeal to them at their own level.

                        • Use small words; do not confuse them with words like, “Anti-triclavianism” or “Supralapsarianism”
                        • Realise that they are of inferior intellect and easily fooled by interweb pages on “science so-called” 1Tm:6:20: O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
                        • Remind them ONLY AFTER you have gained their confidence that Jesus is going to kill the SOBs who don’t accept each and every word of His Glorious Preaching (Luke 19:27)
                        • I hesitate to say this, but use text-speech; you know use ‘4’ for ‘for’ and 8 for ‘ate’ – I can’t do this but you younger ones can – so do it. Pastor Bizzle-Rizzle (Is that his name?) in the GOP thread is a good example.

Listen up! This is Easter, a time of re-birth! Let the spirit of Landover be reborn! As The Word is God, let the Word be Spread!

PS Who let that cooter “AO Saves” onto these Godly boards?

No, an eternity burning in the lake of fire. If you read your Bible, you'd know that.

You made a statement about ALL religions and their purposes. Please demonstrate this statement, using their foundational documents, not your Anthropology 101 liberal view of the potential function of religion.

Alternately, use your anthropology and demonstrate how any major world religion has unified a group of people without setting them apart as "different" from the "outsiders". In a genuine anthropological view, the purpose of religion is to reinforce TRIBAL IDENTITY, and separate US from THEM.

You know nothing about the Bible, about religion in general, or even about basic anthropology, yet you spout insults against Christians as though you possess even an inkling of comprehension.

Pathetic. Do your homework before you come back, little boy.

It seems that your idea about what it takes to be a "good person" differs from ours. We believe that the only way to be a truly good person is to follow the Holy Word of God, word-for-word, as He commands.

If you mean that we believe that it's better to follow the inerrant Word of God than to follow trendy secular notions of what it means to be a good person, then yes, we do believe that. Without the Bible, how do you even know what it means to be a good person? Even the most cursory study of history will show that absent a firm grounding in the Bible, conceptions of what a "good person" is are subjective and ever-changing.

                                Re: Are You an Atheist?

You people crack me up, and amaze me.

It's hard to believe, I'm not going to question your beliefs (I've read enough posts on this forum to understand that anything I say is wrong, and anything you say is the absolute truth in the universe), there's no point in wasting time on that. I'm just going to speak my mind about what I think since the first time I saw this site:

I had a homework at school once, to read this book called "Anticrhist" from a german philosopher called Fredriech Nietzsche.
In that book, he pretty much criticized all religions, I'm not going to waste your time with a full review. What I'm trying to say is that the book was written in like.. 1900? 1890? And what I can hardly believe is that there's still people like you in the world, people who can't decide on anything else but the few pages of a book.

It's like you guys came from the 1800's or something. I tought the world was getting better. I guess there will always be these kind of people, anywhere humanity goes, the need to believe in something bigger than us, that watches us and protect us.

It's hard to accept a reality where you are completely alone in the universe. Don't blame you on that.
