First of all, you're clearly trying to one up Brother Cranky and act like you're smarter than he is, which you are not and will never be. He is an old fashioned man and has no reason to know anything about trivial foreigners and their nonsense.

However, you are correct that it is notable. I was familiar with Notre Dame before this Islamic arson incident, but I was not aware that they had opened a campus in Paris. Being a Nebraskan, I support the Huskers, not the Fighting Irish.

I've known about it for awhile before this fire. It was built from 1163 and finished in 1345. It began when Maurice de Sully got the idea to build a much larger church then the one they had back then. He abolished the Romanesque cathedral and chose to recycle its materials and build this one.


Theres so much interesting stuff about it. I would love to see it after its repaired

It shocks and appals me to see people quoting Michel de Nostredame in any context whatsoever. The man was a Catlick, of Jewish blood, and a soothsayer. Basically, he just made stuff up. Just look at the state of him!

They might THINK they hate God but in this case have you considered how God regards places like this? Can you find any examples from Scripture where He destroyed idolatrous structures?

That really doesnt matter at this moment. This structure was one of the greatest pieces of architecture ever built no matter how idolatrous it is.


Besides of we were to condemn this structure then maybe we should condemn all the other structures evangelicals and baptists and Jews use for their worship as well...just saying.

I'm not really sure what are you fussing about. If God liked medieval cathedrals, He'd have placed at least one here in the Godly USA. He didn't, that means He doesn't care about them, so why should we?

It still really doesn't matter though. It was one of the most holy architectures ever built in admirance of God and it's now been destroyed. Whoever burned it down is honestly worse than a catholic

Can you please explain to me what is so great about some old dump that needs to be propped up in order to keep the walls from falling down? That building should have been condemned as being unsafe years ago. Would you like to live in a building when you know the walls could fall over at any second? What they really need to do is rip it all down before it collapses. Besides, it is just about the gaudiest thing I've ever seen, what with those demonic gargoyles haunting the place, and that creepy weirdo that lives up in the bell tower. I say knock it down. Any building that needs propping up has had its time. Really, what's the difference between these two shacks?

Sure it hadnt been upkept for a few years but that doesnt mean it was a dump. It was the most famous religious architecture in the world. It was historically significant.


Notre Dame wasnt just loved by Catholics it was loved by evangelicals and baptists as well. Evangelicals over looked the sins of Catholics in order to realize how holy this building was.


It was the most finest examples of French architecture that had thousands of visitors from all backgrounds. Guess which people visited it the most...christian tourists and even Jews visited it.


That is what's great about it.

Sweetie, God is omnipotent. If He wanted to prevent the church from burning, He would have done it. He didn't. That means He didn't care about the building. And since it was an accident - no human is responsible for arson - that means God actively took time to burn it down. Because there are no accidents. Everything that happens is God's Will.

I hope they build a McDonald's in the space of the burned church. At least it would be something useful.
