The Vatican was shaken by a corruption scandal Thursday after an Italian television investigation said a former top official had been transferred against his will after complaining about irregularities in awarding contracts.

The show "The Untouchables" on the respected private television network La 7 Wednesday night showed what it said were several letters that Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano, who was then deputy-governor of Vatican City, sent to superiors, including Pope Benedict, in 2011 about the corruption.

The Vatican issued a statement Thursday criticizing the "methods" used in the journalistic investigation. But it confirmed that the letters were authentic by expressing "sadness over the publication of reserved documents."

Yet people still think that there's anything even remotely holy about the Roman institution.

By the way, I wish the fish heads referred to their altar boys as "untouchable."

Colleagues praised her quiet dedication and hard work, and noted that she prayed often; her volunteer work at an event at St. Patrick’s Cathedral won mention in the church’s newspaper, Catholic New York. No one, then, questioned the hundreds of checks she wrote at the archdiocese to cover small expenses, like office supplies and utility bills.

On Monday, the woman, Anita Collins, 67, was charged with embezzling more than $1 million over seven years from the archdiocese.

Pastor Isaac, that's hardly surprising. The papists cultivate an atmosphere of secrecy and criminality that is only rivalled by their fellow guido sidekicks in the Mafia (and of course there is a lot of cross-pollination between the two syndicates).

Anyone who thinks the "pope" is anything other than Don Corleone in a funny hat and muumuu is a fool.

Reporters are investigating the lack of new scandals on Monday. Sources close to the Vatican say that this must be a lack of effort on the media's part, and that the Catholic church is in no way to blame.

"I was shocked to the core when I read my newspaper this morning." said Guido Fromaggio, a local salad bar owner. "I first thought I was losing it, or that my eyesight had gone, but further searches on Google seemed to back up the story."

Mr. Fromaggio was taken to the ER, but could leave a few hours later, after he swallowed a couple of valiums and calmed down.

Insiders expect the normal scandalitis to resume tomorrow.

I think he gets confused because an old man in a dress has told him it's true. Things like the assumption of Mary where she got sucked up into the sky. There is no biblical evidence for it, nobody even thought of it for a thousand years. Then it became a silly story and then in 1950 it became officially true.

They even think that Peter was their first pope. Their 'truest' church is founded on lies.
