    I'm no physicist, but I remember when I took high-school physics, I learned how to calculate the gravitational force of planets (that includes the sun and the earth), based on these variables:

    Fg = G (m1*m2)/(d^2)

    The distance between the sun is used as a variable. And it was written to be more than 500 miles.

    The maths is incorrect, I apologise for correcting the OP but it is.

    But heat travels as infra red and the Sun's heat is UV radiation.

    Even if you say 'sunbeams' are what travels the suns heat they still could of travelled millions of miles as it is light. We get light from stars which are even further away.

    Prove it, then. Tell us exactly how your "formula" is correct?

    I'm not ragging on you, I just want to know.

    So you're saying that the sun is 500 miles away? Sorry but that is complete rubbish. By that standards we could of already reached the sun and being that close would make us hotter than Mercury theerfore no life could exist on Earth.

    Your maths is wrong I'm afraid my friend. Frequency and Temperature cannot be used as variables to determine distance.

    500 miles away? Thats not even the length of great Britain.

    By that logic I could drive to the sun. The maths you have used has not taken into account the nucleur reactions in the sun.

    Thank you for the question, friend. I started to answer it here, but I got too longwinded, so I started a new thread here: http://www.landoverbaptist.net/showthread.php?t=65291

    The earth is nor a disc as such - that animation just shows the illuminated upper surface. The earth rests on pillars (which are obviously underneath); the vault of Heaven rests on a different foundation. This illustration has some more detail:

    Thank you for your interest. There is ample scripture explaining the situation in some detail. The Bible is very different from the secularist propaganda taught in schools and flaunted shamelessly on television.

    Why is the distance to the sun so important anyways?
    because atheists troll with inane questions that are answered in The Bible, and we answer them. Romans 10:14
