You think the moon is more than 200, 000 miles away? We would never be able to see it if that was true. Consider that on a clear day visibility might be a hundred miles. Put something 2000 times farther away and it will be totally obscured.

There are several errors here:

• The sun is gigantic compared to the earth in the picture. This is not so in reality.
• In the correct side-way view, the earth would be represented as a rectangle
• We can see several hundred miles away with our eyes, but not millions of miles.

Please, many of these points have already been addressed. You can base conclusions on false premises, but then you just end up with false conclusions.

2. Earth is an oblate spheroid. This is why one can travel nonstop across the Earth.

3. Our eyes are only limited to what light reaches us. If it's bright enough, it can reach us. Take the stars for example. Some of them are billions of light years away, but we can still see them. Why? Because their light can travel through space and reach us. Our eyes don't have a cutoff point.

Okay, tell me one thing: from where was this picture taken exactly?

Since in your photograph, the earth is in front of the sun and the earth is very small, you would need to take it from a large distance from the earth. And yet, the sun is GIGANTIC.

So according to YOUR picture, the further we move away from the earth AND the sun, the bigger the sun becomes?

I am but an aspiring mathematician, but the rules of perspectives would indicate that the sun would have to be smaller than how it is perceived from earth.

Two things:
1. We are not hicks you know! We know about eclipses. I've seen one myself and I can tell you that the sun and the moon are about the same size.

Honestly, your lack of scientific knowledge saddens me for your children's sake. ):
You are teaching you very own children made up numbers and logic. Nothing in those photos of the sun, jupiter, and earth is photoshopped. If you were unaware that that was what the sun and Earth look like, you must have never taken a science class in your life. It's so sad ):

And yes, the sun is a oblate spheroid. Why do you think the horizon is curved and not flat?

I suggest everyone get out more and do some researching of the subject on their laptops. For your children's sake. They deserve to know the truth about the planet they live on.

Please explain why the sun in the photograph is much larger than it is when we look at it from earth. It doesn't make sense.

It is a photo of the real sizes of the jupiter, earth, and sun in comparison.

Also, have you never heard of zoom on camera's?
They zoom in on objects to see more detail. They are on even disposable camera's, it's impossible that you don't know about it.
Plus, those picture were take thousands of miles above your head from satellite telescopes. They're a lot closer to the objects they're taking pictures of and have INCREDIBLE zoom.

Yes, but if you zoom then you zoom in on all objects at the same time. You won't make one object larger while making the other object smaller.

In this photograph, is the earth in FRONT OF or BEHIND the sun? It seems to me, it's in front of the sun.

Okay, so if you move away from the earth AND sun at the same time (since earth is in front of the sun in the photograph), isn't it logical that they BOTH become smaller?

So when you look:

(sun) ...... (you)(earth) --> sun is small, earth is gigantic

This is how the photograph was taken:

(sun) ....... (earth) ........ (you) ---> sun is gigantic, earth is small

So what gives??
