I think what is going on here is this scenario: "Don't believe what I believe? Then get out, we are right you are wrong!" I am just pointing out my point of view, I am in no way what you would probably considered "unsaved trash". In fact, I volunteer at the local soup kitchen, I donate to books and money and clothes to charity and I go to church as much as I can.

If you're a Christian how come you are disagreeing with what the Bible says about the Earth? Are you trying to say somehow God was wrong and you know better?

I don't believe God put us on this earth just to follow him and praise him. I find that quite egocentric. If he is really omnipotent he wouldn't create us in an attempt to make himself feel loved, because if he was omnipotent I think he would not need that feeling. I think God put us on this earth so we can learn and discover. I don't think God would create such a beautiful, complex universe just so we can praise him, and why do I think that? Well, the earth and the universe is so beautiful. When I look at the Aurora Borealis, when I hear the roar of thunder, when I view pictures of distant galaxies I am fascinated with what God in his infinite wisdom has put in place for us to explore and understand. I think God would be a lot more proud of us that we have traveled to the moon, that we understand how the brain works, and that we can help one another rather than just praising him all day and night. I am in no way condemning your beliefs and I believe in equality of all people and idea and opinions so please, don't condemn mine.

Well, my friend, unfortunately you are going against what the Bible says. That is why we are here. Our God is a jealous God who demands complete obedience or He will destroy you and/or send you to Hell. In fact, the famous Ten Commands start off with a prohibition of worshipping other gods!

Exodus 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Exodus 22:20 He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed.

This is the first and great commandment.

Nope, it's not there that God doesn't demand our praise and worship.

Let's try the Ten Commandments.

If that is true, then why did you refute someone arguments because they were a "druggy"? And why do you assume I use drugs just because I understand how they effect the brain? The difference between you and I is that I don't just believe things someone has told me. I do my own research and come to my own conclusions rather than believing something because that is whats popular, whats rumored, whats written down, etc.

For the record, I'm a Christian, non-drug user. So before you attack me, please consider that.

Why are you so preoccupied with drugs. As I said, this is about how the earth is flat, just as God made it.

If you are a Christian, then why do you not follow what is written the Bible.

Actually, I invite you to read Genesis 1:29-31. "Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. / And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so. / God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.

Marijuana is a seed-bearing plant, therefore God has given us Marijuana (and other plants of course) for our consumption. If I remember correctly, no where in the bible does it proclaim that marijuana is against God. If I am wrong, please do not viscously attack me and please just point it out for me instead. Thank you.

We know the Earth is flat because the Bible tells us so. But for those of you skeptical, close-minded types that flat out refuse to accept the overwhelming Biblical evidence...

Is there actually ONE evidence of anything in the bible? Isn't it just claims without any justifications?

1) Jump!
...
If you were to stand in the flat bed of a truck going 75 mph, and jump straight up, what would happen? You wouldn't fall straight down. You would fall out of the truck. That's because trucks move, the Earth doesn't. This experiment proves the Earth is fixed in space and doesn't move.

I assume you haven't tried jumping on a truck, have you? You would find it calming that if you jumped on a moving truck in a vacuum camber, you would land back on the truck. Even Greek philosophers concluded with this when they dropped an object from a moving boat. and saw that it landing in the boat and not outside as they had expected.

2) Blow!
This can be disproved very simply. Get a balloon and inflate it as big as possible. It will be a spherical shape. Now, take a piece of paper and try to rip, tear, or cut the tiniest speck of paper possible. This paper represents a human being, much smaller in mass to the balloon, which represents the Earth. Now try and place the small piece of paper to the underside of the balloon. What happens? It falls off!

That's right. Even though the balloon is so much bigger in mass, it cannot hold the tiny paper. So if the Earth was a sphere, no one could live below the equator because they would fall off.

All though a balloon is BIG it isn't MASSIVE. Get me an object that is 6*10^22 times my own weight, and I will prove to you that I can stand up side down on that particular object.

Jokes aside. You do realize that the ratio of the paper and the balloon is way way way smaller then the earth and a person, right?

3) Get High!
Ok, this one you really can't do at home, but you can do it out in the world. Stand on the ground and look around you. What's the farthest you can see? Maybe it's a building, tree, or mountain. Now, find some place very close to it where you can get a much higher vantage point. (This also works if you're on a jet and about to take off.) Notice how in the higher place you can see much farther? You can see more of the world the higher you get. This shows the world is flat because the higher you go, the easier it is to see over obstacles. At the same time, it shows the world cannot be spherical. Because if the world was curved, the far distance would forever remain out of view because of the Earth's curvature. It would eternally be over the horizon.

If the Earth was a sphere, it would not matter how high you went, you would still see the same thing. Since this is not the case, the Earth is flat.

How is this even possible? I don't understand it.. You take the argument, turn it up side down, and use this claim to prove the opposite, AND get people to believe it? Respect.

Now, explain to me, as a person living in Europe, why I can't see America when I live at the west coast. I have been thousands of meters high, bus still can't see America, even though there is no obstacles. (You know, since there isn't a thousand meters high waves).

What you would expect if the earth was round was that the horizon would increase as you got higher. It's all geometrics. You can show it with a two dimensional drawing on a sheet of paper. However, if the earth was flat, you would expect to see all the way to the next obstacle as nothing would block your view. Hence, I should see America. But then again, you don't believe in Mathematics, and I guess this is when the ad hominen will start..

Yes, I know I do. That is because I am moving at the same speed the earth is.

No, it is because the earth is not moving.

I would need an object bigger than anything you can imagine for gravity to have an effect.

Secular scienists say there is no gravity on the moon and mars. How much bigger does it have to be.

What if the water is clear and there are no waves yet you see the same effect happening?

The ship will still disappear and get smaller. Just like looking down tracks in a flat desert.

The thread is 100+ pages. I am new here, I would rather not.

I have been told to view the thread and find out how my points were refuted. However, the thread is over 200 pages long and I believe I would have difficulties finding the posts that some people are trying to refer me to.
