I have also heard it theorized that you stay on the ground because God and Satan are in a tug of war for you. The devil is trying to draw you to hell while God is trying to pull you upward.

I think I can explain every one of these simple scientific facts in plain english, for everyone on this forum to understand.

1) Jump!
Now, scientists claim that Earth is spherical and rotating at a speed of between 700-1000 miles per hour, depending on your latitude. This is a very high rate of speed. You can disprove this nonsense by simply jumping up as high as you can. Really, it's that simple. What happens when you jump? You come straight down to where you were. But, if the Earth were indeed spinning at such a fast speed, wouldn't you land hundreds of feet away?

If you were to stand in the flat bed of a truck going 75 mph, and jump straight up, what would happen? You wouldn't fall straight down. You would fall out of the truck. That's because trucks move, the Earth doesn't. This experiment proves the Earth is fixed in space and doesn't move.


If someone were to stand on the flat bed of a truk going 75 mph, that person itself is also moving at the same speed as the truck is. You would be able to feel this in the way the wind would be trying to blow you of the imaginative truck. The horizontal speed of this person is 75 mph, the same as the truck. When you were to jump straight up in the air you would gain speed in the vertical direction.

This means that during your jump you would have both vertical AND horizontal speed. This means that, while in the air during your jump, you will still move at the same speed with the driving truck. You will land at the same spot where you started your jump (if you ignore the friction of your body with the air). Translating this aspect to the earth, means that a moving earth will not make you jump hundreds of feet, because you are moving at the same speed as the earth is. Therefore, the earth being round is definitly not an impossibility.


2) Blow!
Since if the Earth is supposedly a sphere, it naturally comes to assume what would happen to people below the equator, like in Australia? Since they are underneath the sphere, wouldn't they fall off? This is where scientists come up with mumbo-jumbo like "gravity" and "centrifugal force" to explain away their theories. So, the scientists want you to think that because the earth is so much more massive than people or things, that people will naturally "stick" to the bottom of the earth because of gravity.

This can be disproved very simply. Get a balloon and inflate it as big as possible. It will be a spherical shape. Now, take a piece of paper and try to rip, tear, or cut the tiniest speck of paper possible. This paper represents a human being, much smaller in mass to the balloon, which represents the Earth. Now try and place the small piece of paper to the underside of the balloon. What happens? It falls off!

That's right. Even though the balloon is so much bigger in mass, it cannot hold the tiny paper. So if the Earth was a sphere, no one could live below the equator because they would fall off.

Since I do not want to start an argument starting with the assumption of the earth being round, I will ask a couple of questions. If the earth were to be flat, why doesnt water run of the edges? Is it so that all the edges of the earth are standing upwards, thereby holding in the water? And if the earth is a flat planet, what is there to be found on the OTHER side of this flat earth?
Until someone can explain this irregularities to me, I will remain in the thought of a spheric planet earth.


3) Get High!
Ok, this one you really can't do at home, but you can do it out in the world. Stand on the ground and look around you. What's the farthest you can see? Maybe it's a building, tree, or mountain. Now, find some place very close to it where you can get a much higher vantage point. (This also works if you're on a jet and about to take off.) Notice how in the higher place you can see much farther? You can see more of the world the higher you get. This shows the world is flat because the higher you go, the easier it is to see over obstacles. At the same time, it shows the world cannot be spherical. Because if the world was curved, the far distance would forever remain out of view because of the Earth's curvature. It would eternally be over the horizon.

If the Earth was a sphere, it would not matter how high you went, you would still see the same thing. Since this is not the case, the Earth is flat.[/I][/I]

One simple question is enough to invalidate this argument:

If the earth were to be flat, why is it that from an aeroplane leaving new york city, one can not see Sydney lying in the distance? Could this be because the metropole is lying on the other side of the spherical earth?

What I'm saying is this: Imagine you're riding in the back of a pickup truck. You then throw a baseball as far as you can in the air, in a perfectly vertical straight line. That baseball will land outside the truck because the truck has driven past underneath it.

The same effect would happen with a rotating Earth. Yes, we are traveling at the same speed as the Earth when we have both feet on the ground. The second we jump up though, we are independent of the Earth. Think of it as like being on a conveyor belt or escalator. As soon as you jump up, the world beneath you moves but you don't.

Two reasons: 1) Because you're simply not high enough. Your vision would be blocked by a vast expanse of ocean, other continents, mountain ranges, etc. 2) We don't see in an exact straight line, just like a bullet doesn't travel in an absolute straight line. Scientists have shown that our eyes emit light particles called "photons", but over a considerable distance they lose speed and start plummeting to the Earth. So, just like you can't fire a gun from NY and hit someone in Sydney, you can't see it either.

That is clearly not a photo. The colors are much too vivid. It's just a very well-done artistic impression of what the Earth could look like. But, it certainly doesn't help your case when you resort to paintings and try to defraud us by claiming they are photographic evidence. Is that how desperate you spherical-earthers are becoming?
