  • Re: 3 Experiments You Can Do At Home that PROVE THE EARTH IS FLAT!

Honestly, I can't tell if you guys are extremely sarcastic, surpassing even myself or if you guys believe this ridiculous notion. A spherical earth and the truth of God's word aren't two mutually exclusive events.

Of course they are! How could God be mistaken about such a basic thing about His creation?

I don't recall any verses explicitly stating that the earth is flat. The earth having "four corners" isn't a statement claiming that the Earth is flat by the way. I suppose you believe the moon is flat as well?

Find me a sphere with four corners.

and how would you explain people crossing antarctica?
and how would the magnetic poles work?
would 'south' just be in a direction toward the closest edge of the earth?

That would be metaphorical language, actually both of them are. A good hermeneutic will tell you that the author is using the term to describe the entire earth, just like if I were to use the term "from end to end." The earth doesn't actually have an end, neither does a sphere, you still understand what I'm trying to portray and you understand I'm not actually saying that the earth is a line with two ends.

It could be that Matthew gave Jesus a supernatural vision of all the kingdoms since there are no mountains high enough to see all the "kingdoms of the world."

More likely, that verse in Matthew is a hyperbole just like the verse in Mark 9 “Everything is possible for him who believes.” By believing in your ability to grow wings and fly will you? The answer is positively not. To make the point clear, is it possible to believe God out of existence? By no means!

It's not for us to explain anything. It's for us to glory in God's creation as He made it, strive to be saved and be a good example to the unsaved so they have no excuse when they burn.

I love every word that's in the bible, you just need to understand that if every word is not taking in the context then your going to have serious troubles.

“The rock poured me out rivers of oil.” Job 19:6 (He had an abundance of good things.)

“The cities are great, and walled up to heaven.” Deut. 1:28 (They were very high.)

"If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched." (Mark 9:43)

If you don't take some passages as they are written you are going to be hindered in teaching the word. Not all verses are meant to be literally interpreted, read Proverbs 31, that's obviously not discussing a real woman. There are verses in the Bible that are metaphor.

Since the Bible doesn't say any such thing, who is to be the arbiter of what is literal or metaphor? You?

Would it not be more prudent as a Christian to accept every single word as literal truth, as we are told?

2 Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:"

                                Seems simple enough to me.
