That is a beautiful and very illuminating illustration, Sister, that makes the whole nonsense clear as day. It should be in textbooks everywhere!

Not that we gals are not science minded, mind you. It takes quite alot of scientific prowess to get a Sponge Cake or a fluffy buttermilk pancake to rise just right.

As to pastry: I was thinking, maybe it would help the non-believers grasp God™s earthly world if they stopped thinking of it as a perfectly flat disk, and more shaped like a PIE.

There is depth to it (the filling) because there has to be space down there for h*ll, and also when you're gardening you notice your trowel doesn't poke right through into nothingness. So there is stuff down there, no doubt about it.

And the surface is bumpy like a lattice-top crust or strussel topping (though naturally much bigger of course) which is why you will see the mast of a ship first come over what a viewer can take to be "the horizon", followed by the body of the boat.

That is a FABULOUS example! I never even ventured to compare earth to a pie and it does make perfect sense, especially when taking into account the bumpy top. Even to go one further step, we could even include a Lemon Meringue to demonstrate the high peaks of mountains!!

Gosh Mistress Cookie, it is certainly obvious that you have been taking a keen interest in Rev Jim's, True Disciple's and Professor Bessemer's intense scientific works to understand this side of science as much as you do.

Q: In order to prove this my self, I lauch a coin strongly in one direction, I we believe the so-called scientist, The coin should Turn around the supposely round earth and then should hit the back of my head.
So I did this, and about 30 sec after I launched the coin, It HIT THE BACK OF MY HEAD, and when I look behind me, there were nothing but my brother smiling at me (He didn't lauch another coin, because It's not the kind of stuff he is usualy doing)
Is there a possibility the earth could be round after all?
Or may be it is a Difficulty God placed there to Test my faith in him?

I really don't know what I should do, Should I be investigating further? Or should I Pray to get a solution?

Please help me, this situation is really really hard to get trought!

So, discredit this if you will: You are standing inside a car travelling at 30 feet per second and you jump. Let us assume that your jump lasts for 1 second just to make it easy. According to your theory, you would then land 30 feet behind the car.

As for the blow theory, you are kind of disproving your own arguement there. The paper falls off the baloon because the earth's gravity is higher than the gravity of the balloon. But that's not the funniest thing actually. You are claiming people in Australia would fall off, as if Australia was on the botton of the sphere, and Alaska on the top of the sphere. How come we can't view, for instance, Boulder, Colorado to be at the very bottom of the sphere. I mean, who are you to say that Australia, relative to the entire universe, is pointing downwards?

Let's say we're standing on a ship on a completely still day in the middle of the ocean, if the earth was flat, we would have unlimited view in all directions right? Why do the ships disappear as they move over the horizon? Why don't they fall off, seeing as the earth is flat and if they go below sea level, the ship must surely be sinking or falling off the edge?

But, in the car you could throw up a coin in the air. The coin will come straight down in your hand. I guess this is what you call relative speed. But, you are comparing apples and oranges. A car is not the same as the Earth.

The big difference is the car is inside and the Earth is outside. Now, stand on the roof of the car and jump up. What happens? Do you land back on the car? According to your "relative speed" theory, you would.



So now you're contradicting your own scientists (interesting). How come then on every map and every globe, Australia is on the bottom? I've never seen Boulder, Colorado at the bottom of any map or globe. Ever.



Since when is the ocean completely flat? Ever heard of waves? Also, waves can be hundreds, if not thousands of feet high in the middle, deepest parts of the open sea. If a ship sails out of view and you only see the top of it, that means it's going down a wave crest and is actually below average sea level, and your view is obstructed by that wave.

A car is not the same as the earth, it's would be like comparing a mountain to a minuscule mote of dust, I agree. However, when you are inside a car, you're also on the earth - so you're still traveling as fast as the earth is rotating.

So if the inside of a car is not an alternate dimension; that means there must some another main difference. What do you feel when you move your hand outside the car-window? Exactly - wind blowing on your hand. Will the wind affect a coin toss? Yes it will.

A simple way to try your wild hypothesis about waves is letting the other boat stay still where you only see the mast, that way you can notice if a wave is actually obstructing your view.

Let me however pose a philosophical argument, disregard my previous statements for the sake of argument:

God is omnipotent - he's all-powerful and all-knowing, therefore he's infinitely greater than ourselves who are limited beings. How can any of us understand anything this God tells us? A small portion of infinity is still infinity; so the bible which is God's word is something we can never understand in any way. He can't make us understand forcefully because that would go against our free will.

Stand right behind the drivers' cabin, on the platform(no load attached to trailer). This will eliminate wind resistance. Have the semi trailer then move at a constant speed and jump. You will land in the exact same spot if there is no wind resistance.

So you're basically saying that every time a ship disappears over the horizon, it's because of a wave? Are you serious or? But anyways, say we're standing in the middle of an extremely flat part of the country, Ohio for instance. I am standing in an open field, there are no trees around me. Yet I do not see any mountains in the distance? If the earth was truly flat, wouldn't I be able to see distant mountains and the like?


So if the earth is truly flat, how come the globe you mention is spherical? And if it's flat, it must have and end, where is that end? As for going to hell, I think I'll take my chances. I am still a Christian, but I am not some sheep to be lead blindly around by some greedy, false, selfdeclared prophet who is exploiting his poor believers for his own personal gain. Of course not. Due to our limited eyesight, the farther something is away the harder it gets to see it. If you take a grain of sand and you put in on one side of the road and then try to see it from the other side of the road you will not see it. Does that suddenly make the road a globe?

And if it's flat, it must have and end, where is that end?

The center of the disk is the North Pole, the border of the disk is Antarctica. God made it that way to protect us from falling off.

Well, obviously the mountain is bigger so you can see it from farther away. But like with the grain of sand there is a limit to how far away you have to be to still see it. Another matter on large distances is that air is not entirely transparent, it's not a vacuum. Depending on weather conditions this also plays a role in how well you can see far away huge objects.

Did you ever hear of scale? Grain of sand vs mountain... Hmmz. Well, you can see a semi from extremely far away right? The a mountain, a HUGE mountain, shouldn't you be able to see that from insane distances? These arguements are just... they don't make any sense. I honestly don't understand how anyone living in 2010 can actually believe the earth is flat, I mean, do you want to go back to the dark ages or what?

The first time the earth was proclaimed to be round, and they actually calculated it's size almost correctly with extremely crude methods. The way it was first discovered was that a man living in old Greece(can't remember his name), put a stick in the ground in Athens I think it was. The stick was of a certain hight. He then went to another place, Turkey if I remember correctly, and put an exact same stick in the ground there. What he did next was measure the difference of the length of the shadow of each stick at the exact same time of day. He knew how far the sticks were apart, and he was able to calculate the size of the earth from that, and it is actually pretty close to the size measured in modern times. Now, I'm sure you have thousands of rediculous counters on this, but it's still more scientific than any method you have described in this thread for proving the earth is flat.
