Circular Reasoning - A Non Sequitur Argument against The Truth

When I meet a stupid atheist (is there any other kind?), I am often challenged to prove that God exists. So I point to my KJV1611 Holy Bible and declare victory.

To this the stupid atheist will say that the Hold Bible is not proof of God because the book references only itself as proof, and this is circular reasoning.

They will ask, "how do you know that the Bible is the Word of God?"

I will of course reply that "it says so in the Bible"

The atheist will say that this is circular reasoning.

I don't understand this argument at all! Surely all books are circular in this regard.

Scientific books reference themselves and their authors all the time.
Newton wrote "Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica" - We know this because it says so on the cover.
Einstein wrote "Relativity: The Special and General Theory" - We know this because it says so on the cover.

Hawking wrote "A Brief History of Time" - We know this because it says so on the cover.

Dawkins wrote "The God Delusion" - We know this because it says so on the cover.
I would like to make it clear that I have not read the above referenced books (apart from the KJV1611 of course) as I do not find it necessary to do so. But how can I challenge the truth of who wrote the book, just because it tells me in the book who wrote it?

The KJV1611 is the Holy Word of God, it says so in the Book -you can't tell me that's a circular argument as it applies to ALL authors of ALL books.

    Just my thoughts.

PS - if I posted this in the wrong section, please forgive my infraction and feel free to move it somewhere more appropriate.

There is nothing to understand. The atheist is simply hallucinating. See, reasoning is invisible. So even if it was circular, it couldn't possibly appear that way. For an atheist to perceive that your reasoning is circular is just like when a hippy perceives that music is green, or the smell of his cigarette is loud. It is a psychedelic experience brought on by demonic possession. The best thing for you to do is just to admonish the evil spirits inside the atheist by making a hole in him large enough for them to escape, and then summoning the Holy Spirit by using the Lord's Prayer. Do not confuse this with magic, as magic and prayer are two totally different things even though they are both bending the will of spiritual beings to your service. Two totally different things.

Re: Circular Reasoning - A Non Sequitur Argument against The Trut

It seems to me the atheists you are talking to are so blinded with their hate of God and the Bible they don't know what they are talking about.

All philosophical and religious theories start with something called axioms. Axioms are ideas that are believed to be true, and are then used to deduce theorems. Since all of those systems have axioms, Christians can't be faulted for having their own axioms (i.e. scripture), and we must instead examine if those axioms are self-consistent and consistent with the real world. The Bible is self-consistent because nowhere in the Bible does it make the claim that the Bible is NOT God's Word. If that were the case, then it would be illogical to defend it. Now, we need to determine if the Bible is consistent with the real-world. The fact is, even many secular scientists agree that the accounts in the Bible are based in history. For example, Dr. Nelson Greek found archeological evidence of the cities Sodom and Gomorrah in the 1920s. This, and other archeological evidence, proves the Bible is consistent with the real-world.

So, as we can see, since the Bible is both self-consistent and consistent with the real world, defending it is not circular logic. You can tell atheists to put that in their pipes and smoke it.

Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him." Yes, I was only thinking about that today, while cooking beef, onion & tomato pie.

What does science use to prove itself, but science!

        So it goes like this:
ATHEIST: "The Bible is not true because it fails the test of "science" - an objective test. (To say that The Bible is true because it passes the test of The Bible, is invalid because it is a subjective test.)"

now try it on the other foot.. ..

"Science is not true because it fails the test of "The Bible" - an objective test. (To say that Science is true because it passes the test of Science, is invalid because it is a subjective test.)"

ATHEIST: "no NO NO! splutter b.. b.. b.. it.. it.. it.. g.. g.. cough THAT'S NOT RIGHT"

God tells me that the atheist demon cannot prevail Jeremiah 6:15
and tells me I Corinthians 15:33 Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.

No wonder the atheist humans sound so rude on the radio!

As a wise man once said to me, it is so clear the God guided the hands of the Biblical scribes because there is so much agreement across all the books of the Bible and it has remained intact and available for our edification throughout so many centuries of turmoil. How could this be without God's provision?

Did God allow the decadent lesbian poetry of Sappho to survive? No! We only know of fragments of her work because other people commented on it in works that did survive.

Clearly, God gave us the Bible and the Bible, in a manner of speaking, gives us God.

I noticed that you come from - or are currently located at - Godless Philadelphia. How Godless is it, exactly? Do they enjoy subject you to demonic techno-raves? I occasionally visit America, but have not been to Philadelphia; mostly I'm in the West or the South. Is there much violence where you are?

Thank you for the compliment, Mr. Lizalor. Please, call me Lycia.

Philadelphia is an infernal cesspool of Satanic activity. We do have techno-raves, which I attended quite often in my unsaved past, but I am afraid I was so indisposed during that time I can't quite remember anything more to tell about them. Other than that, we have large gangs of well-armed minorities who spend most of their time killing each other, raping women, and selling drugs to needle-using homosexuals. Once you learn to sleep through the gunshots and the screaming though, it isn't too bad.

And between Philadelphia's cheesesteaks and Trenton's tomato pies, we have some of the best food America has to offer.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention, I am back to my natural brunette hair color.

I work at a lot of those events here in Australia, and it is getting very busy now. There has certainly been much evidence for the inner selves' less spiritual proclivities among the attendees when under the full duress of demons. It is certainly not a condition I could recommend to anyone with an ambition for chastity. Does it get very hot in Philadelphia? We run the fire sprinklers here, and everyone dances in swimming costumes. Or fancy dress. Or both. It's appalling! I noticed you were wearing a small face mask: is everything OK, now?

Truly the temptations rampant at those raves are innumerable. Between the allure of illegal drugs, heathen music, and unchaste dancing, they are definitely not an event I would recommend to anyone who is interested in spending their eternal life in Heaven.

The face-mask is a necessary precaution while going outside in Philadelphia, especially in my area. There are constantly large plumes of crack smoke and vapors from meth labs wafting about. If any True Christian™ should find themselves in Philadelphia (and I can't imagine why they would want to expose themselves to such a hotbed of Satanism) I would suggest they invest in and wear something like this:
"Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. The Bible KJV1611, is written at the inspiration of God. Were this not so there would be errors yet it is inerrant*.

The fact that there are no errors surely means it was done by a Power far greater than a mere human mind. There is only one mind greater than ours, and that is God’s.
