  • America should use duodecimal system

Despite our glorious Christian heritage, America use the atheist metrics-optimized decimal system (base ten). I suggest that America should upgrade to duodecimal system instead (base twelve).

Here are some benefits of twelve vs ten:
    • Base ten is optimized for metrics, as ten decimeters in a meter, base twelve is used in imperial system of units. One foot is subdivided into twelve inches.
    • Twelve is a greater number than ten, giving a clear signal that America is superior to Europe.
    • Base twelve make mathematics easier, since the risk of infinite figures from integer divisions is much smaller. Out of the twelve fist integers, eight are safe in base twelve, but just six in base ten.
    • There are 24 hours in a day, not 20.
    • One year is twelve months, not ten.
    • Twelve patriarchs
    • Twelve apostles
    • Twelve sons of Israel

And words from a Christian Mathematician:
But the final quantitative advantage, in my own experience, is this: in varied and extensive calculations of an ordinary and not unduly complicated kind, carried out over many years, I come to the conclusion that the efficiency of the decimal system might be rated at about 65 or less, if we assign 100 to the duodecimal.

Re: America should use duodecimal system

I was in the UK after the War, I must say that with rationing, unfathomable cricket, boring soccer, rain, absence of dentistry (other than extractions without anesthetic), the duo-decimal system was something to keep the mind occupied when cooped up in an uncentrally heated home.

My father never quite got the grasp but insisted I learned Pounds Shillings and Pence. He did this by emphasising his teaching with a belt – it worked for me and I am none the worse for it. I am proud to say that I know that:

17 articles at 1 shilling and seven pence three-farthings (1/7¾d) each = One pound, seven shillings and eleven pence three-farthing, £1/7/11¾d and what could be simpler than that?

I am now looking for some country where I can put such knowledge to use.

I've never been a fan of that duodecimal system.

The card catalogs just get so unwieldy.

Surely there's a simpler way to index library books, isn't there?

I'm concerned that if we switch to a base twelve number system, the number of dollars in my already diminished bank account will decrease. So will the number of Baptist churches, and the number of people going to Heaven.

Yet, the number of queers having anal sex will decrease proportionately as well. So will the number of Jews sacrificing Christian children, and the number of atheists photoshopping pictures of outer space.

          It's a toss up.

Who are you, and what god do you worship? Ba'al?

Why not pedal your tricycle over to the Introduction Forum and introduce yourself following the idiot-proof instructions at the top of that page, instead of interrupting the grownups with ridiculous "me too" one-liners?

              Thanks!
