goths is an abbreviation for Gothic. The original goths were one of the barbarian tribes that colonized Europe. They built their temples with tall towers pointing to the sky. Many modern day churches are built in a decidedly gothic fashion. some of your ancestors were Gothic.

Gothic today, is a kind of fashion style which means you prefer dark clothing.

Reason No. 1 - Goths are Terrorists
Theres a big gap between a 15 year old christian who plays call of duty, and a reserved goth. Goths tend to be somewhat shy, and stay with other people similar to them. As far as i know no goth has every caused a school shooting.

Reason No. 2 - Goths drink their own urine.

I am so confused. I consider myself a good Christian and yet my best friend is a goth. She is a good Christian too, she goes to Church, prays to God daily and studies the bible, but she dresses like a goth. I want to tell her that she cannot be a good Christian AND a goth at the same time but she looks happy the way she is. She is like my sister and I really want to know, if she is happy, can it really be so wrong? Aside from her clothes she is a good, God-fearing, Christian girl who respects her parents and respects God.

Anyone interested in a demonstration of ignorance and superstition will get a good dose of both in this current intro thread but don't read it when eating soup. You'll probably choke.

Typical of the gothic genre, verbose jelly-words and upside down thinking such as:

Now there are many people who look like goths, act like goths and so on who listen to Beethoven. Many of the so-called gothic guitarists admire his work, particularly the rhythmic devices he originated and the harmonic structure. So well regarded is he that a new system of tuning the guitar was necessary to play his music. And not only harmony but melody too; shredding The Moonlight Sonata is very demanding and I'm sure Beethoven would approve of his music being adapted to the electric guitar.

However Beethoven is not on the list of acceptable pop groups.

Similarly in the case of stupid made up "religions" generally less than 50 or 100 years old [such as were cooked up by MacGregor Mathers around the turn of the last century] but one or two might be 200 years old at a stretch I suppose. They have nothing whatsoever in common with actual Roman paganism or the heathen Greek cults they pretend to be named after and nothing at all to do with Druidism, about which virtually nothing is known because it's been extinct for centuries if not millennia.

No one ever mentioned any "pop groups" that I know of. And the fact is a Goth is a fan of aficionado of Goth Rock. Funny, how even the dictionary says this is the case, even Wikipedia will tell you what Goth Rock yes, and yet you still think there is any denying the truth.

Goth is not a definition of who you are, it is a term used to describe fans of a type of music. Listening to one type of music does not define anyone except a poseur, as of course there is more to a person than the music you listen to. It is a term used the same way as Metalhead or Rivethead, only for Goth instead of Metal or Industrial. But people who have never been Goth just can't seem to understand such simple logic. I'm not sure why. Saying you're tall, Caucasian, of Irish descent, etc., doesn't describe or define everything about you. They are labels to describe one aspect of you. If that is easy to understand, it makes no sense that using Goth to describe one thing about a person is hard to understand.

This is one of the reasons I am not Wicca, and really do not care for Wicca. However, all religions were "made up" by someone at one time or another, or they would not exist at all. But personally, I would not follow a religion that is only 100 years old.

Plenty is known about Druidism. Just like you insist that because something happens in two clubs you worked at in one city, it happens everywhere and there can be no Goth clubs or scenes where it does not happen?

If you can provide us with evidence that actual Goths do the things you claim, it would be rather impossible for me to deny that it does happen. Your church has not claimed it only happens in select areas, you claim it's ALL Goths. Well, I certainly know I don't do those things and the majority of the people who go to the club do not either. So it's obviously not ALL Goths. I know this for a fact. Are there some that do it? Probably. Is it most Goths? Not from what I have seen. The real Goth fans aren't known for those things and most of them show obvious disgust or disappointment if they find out their favourite Goth singer has even over-dosed on prescription meds. I don't see how you can expect me to believe Goths do these things you say, some of which are ridiculous accusations that only an insane person would be capable of, when the only evidence I have seen your church provide is evidence of people who are not Goth doing these things. And who are you a carpenter for? What have you made? What were they for? Do you only provide your services to companies who follow the bible to the letter? If your boss sends you to work without another person, who happens to not follow the bible to the letter, do you refuse to work with them? How does that go over?
