42 Is the answer to Life the Universe and Everything according to the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, is there any reference to this in the bible
What would a English homer know about life friend? Just go by the KJV1611 Bible and forget this English nonsense.
Time to reclaim our FREEDOM from the “Mullah in Chief” and his growing activist voter hoards of socialists, communists, anti-Semites, anti-Christians, atheists, radical gays and lesbians, feminists, illegal immigrants, Muslims, anti-Anglo whites and others.

God bless America, the Second Amendment and the Constitution. God bless the United States Marine Corps and all who fight for Jesus in third world cess pools. God bless the GOP and all they stand for, Truth, Honesty and the American people. God bless Landover Baptist Church and all True Christians™ the world over. Curses to our Muslim President, his failure is our Salvation.

Amen Brother! I don't understand why all these heathens want to dabble in magic and numerology, when Jesus clearly hates that stuff. God warns us not to partake in divination. What ever the method God's Word covers them all. We are to seek God and be lead by the Holy Spirit, any form of divination is seeking outside of him and playing the devil's game.

I am sure there are more than these listed here, as pagan witches can and do come up with just about anything.
Here is a partial list from just a few scripture verses:
Hypocrites (Matthew 24:51), The Unforgiving (Mark 11:26), Homosexuals (Romans 1:26, 27), Fornicators (Romans 1:29), The Wicked (Romans 1:29), The Covetous (Romans 1:29), The Malicious (Romans 1:29), The Envious (Romans 1:29), Murderers (Romans 1:29), The Deceitful (Romans 1:29), Backbiters (Romans 1:30), Haters of God (Romans 1:30), The Despiteful (Romans 1:30), The Proud (Romans 1:30), Boasters (Romans 1:30), Inventors of evil (Romans 1:30), Disobedient to parents (Romans 1:30), Covenant breakers (Romans 1:31), The Unmerciful (Romans 1:31), The Implacable (Romans 1:31), The Unrighteous (1Corinthians 6:9), Idolaters (1Corinthians 6:9), Adulterers (1Corinthians 6:9), The Effeminate (1Corinthians 6:9), Thieves (1Corinthians 6:10), Drunkards (1Corinthians 6:10), Reviler (1Corinthians 6:10), Extortioners (1Corinthians 6:10), The Fearful (Revelation 21:8), The Unbelieving (Revelation 21:8), The Abominable (Revelation 21:8), Whoremongers (Revelation 21:8), Sorcerers (Revelation 21:8), All Liars (Revelation 21:8)
Here is a 42 for you, homer. I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. Isaiah 42:8
Do you really think you could replace God with a stupid number?
If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: But if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it. A foolish woman is clamorous: She is simple, and knoweth nothing. Proverbs 9:12-13
Nothing is coincidental - if you happen to be all-powerful and all-mighty.
To me, 42 represents the number of generations from Abraham to Jesus.
Matthew 1:17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
A wise man’s heart inclines him to the right, but a fool’s heart to the left. (Ecclesiastes 10:2)
Wasn't that the amount of children that were killed by the bears?
2 Kings 2:24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.
Because they called Elisha Baldie!
23 And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.
Praise Jesus!!!

Judges 9:21 And Jotham ran away, and fled, and went to Beer, and dwelt there, for fear of Abimelech his brother.
2 Kings 2:24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.
The scholar in me can't help contemplating how long time it takes for two bears to kill 42 boys. The first couple of boys would have been killed quickly, but as the rest of the punks scattered throughout the village, it must have taken the bears some time to track them down.
Let's say it takes a bear 1 minute to tear a boy up, then the miracle would have taken 21 minutes. That gave the prophet Elijah plenty of time to praise God and thank Him for this wonderful miracle.

Matthew 1:17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
How's this for a perfect arrangement? Not only are there 42 generations from Abraham to Jesus, but there are also 42 generations from David to Jesus:
Luke 3:23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of (1)Joseph, which was the son of (2)Heli,
Luke 3:24 Which was the son of (3)Matthat, which was the son of (4)Levi, which was the son of (5)Melchi, which was the son of (6)Janna, which was the son of (7)Joseph,
Luke 3:25 Which was the son of (8)Mattathias, which was the son of (9)Amos, which was the son of (10)Naum, which was the son of (11)Esli, which was the son of (12)Nagge,
Luke 3:26 Which was the son of (13)Maath, which was the son of (14)Mattathias, which was the son of (15)Semei, which was the son of (16)Joseph, which was the son of (17)Juda,
Luke 3:27 Which was the son of (18)Joanna, which was the son of (19)Rhesa, which was the son of (20)Zorobabel, which was the son of (21)Salathiel, which was the son of (22)Neri,
Luke 3:28 Which was the son of (23)Melchi, which was the son of (24)Addi, which was the son of (25)Cosam, which was the son of (26)Elmodam, which was the son of (27)Er,
Luke 3:29 Which was the son of (28)Jose, which was the son of (29)Eliezer, which was the son of (30)Jorim, which was the son of (31)Matthat, which was the son of (32)Levi,
Luke 3:30 Which was the son of (33)Simeon, which was the son of (34)Juda, which was the son of (35)Joseph, which was the son of (36)Jonan, which was the son of (37)Eliakim,
Luke 3:31 Which was the son of (38)Melea, which was the son of (39)Menan, which was the son of (40)Mattatha, which was the son of (41)Nathan, which was the son of (42)David,
Did I mention that Luke is the 42nd book in the Bible?

If the children were frozen in fear, it may not have taken that long.
Of course, the children came from the city, so they would have had to go out of the walls (through the gate) to taunt Elisha who was headed to Bethel.
So the children were outside the city gates, taunting the bald prophet. They wouldn't have ran towards Elisha, and if the bears cut off the entrance to the city, it would have been easy pickings for them to kill them.

Brilliant, Brother V, Brilliant. I can envision those snot-nosed twerps wetting their pants while standing frozen with fear - waiting for the Lord to dish out His swift justice:
Deuteronomy 19:20 And those which remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you.

It might not have been in fear. Those children might have been virtuous enough to realize that God was correcting their behavior and took their lesson properly by letting the bear tear their throats out.
That might really be the lesson here; don't run from God's flesh eating bear.
