Mormons learn about reality, leave their cult.

Thanks to the series of pipes, the magic-undie-wearing LSD cultists are catching on to the fact that the dogmas of their "church" cannot withstand reality.

    From the JYT:
Some Mormons Search the Web and Find Doubt

In the small but cohesive Mormon community where he grew up, Hans Mattsson was a solid believer and a pillar of the church. He followed his father and grandfather into church leadership and finally became an “area authority” overseeing the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout Europe.

When fellow believers in Sweden first began coming to him with information from the Internet that contradicted the church’s history and teachings, he dismissed it as “anti-Mormon propaganda,” the whisperings of Lucifer. He asked his superiors for help in responding to the members’ doubts, and when they seemed to only sidestep the questions, Mr. Mattsson began his own investigation.

But when he discovered credible evidence that the church’s founder, Joseph Smith, was a polygamist and that the Book of Mormon and other scriptures were rife with historical anomalies, Mr. Mattsson said he felt that the foundation on which he had built his life began to crumble.

Around the world and in the United States, where the faith was founded, the Mormon Church is grappling with a wave of doubt and disillusionment among members who encountered information on the Internet that sabotaged what they were taught about their faith, according to interviews with dozens of Mormons and those who study the church.
Now that they know how ridiculous the myths of their religion are, let's pray that they'll find Jesus instead.
This church is dedicated to preaching True Christianity™ and the King James Bible exactly as they are, with no alterations to make them more politically correct for modern liberals. If you think that we've misquoted or twisted Scripture or quoted any verse out of context, please explain in detail how we've done so. Otherwise, if what you read on this site offends you, then you're offended by Almighty God and His Word, not by us.

Here we can agree on a few points of common sense and solid Christian theology.

As much as we Catholics dismiss Baptists for their silly take on scripture and cult-like approach to religion, when viewed against the actions and dogma of the LDS you turnip turners are veritable Saints!

The book of Mormon, written by a huckster with a pocket full of magic rocks and the address of every under-age girl within a days travel, is without question one of the two silliest works of religious fiction known to man. I wonder if L.Ron Hubbard is related to Joseph Smith or his oft-married side-kick Bring'em Young because between his delusional Scientologist natterings and the fantasy writings of the man who brought the world magic undies and dozens of under-age wives you have the two most striking example of con artists plundering the low hanging fruit of human need.

We get many formers members of the LDS 'Church' and there is a well-defined pattern of sins we hear in their first few dozen confessions. The same pattern holds true for the many questions they ask about Jesus and it is clear that these folks are traumatised to find out that the 'teachings' of Jo Smith actually contradict the Bible (Mormons think Smith is Jesus-like in his power now and that they can get their own planet and Jesus-like power...).

When given a chance to learn the truth about Jesus and the truth about Smith's lying, stealing and serial under-age girl collecting, even the most brain-washed Mormon can quickly deduce that Smith made up his entire sky-fairy story and has thusly continued to con millions of folks who are duped into believing outrageous tales that defy logic, science and common sense.

It is charlatans like Smith and Hubbard this who give religion a bad name.

    Bless you, my stopped clock,
    Father Mo

If only atheists would go and do likewise! These days people are without excuse. Our generation has the internet at its fingertips -- a wealth of information only a few clicks way -- yet most atheists are evidently too lazy even to google "evolution," "big bang," or "climate change." They'd rather just accept what they've always been taught without question. Yet in less than a minute, they could find the truth -- articles on creation science, videos of debates between Christians and atheists. The atheist will probably also simultaneously come across a lot of articles and videos by atheists in his search, and because of confirmation bias and cognitive dissonance, he will probably want to give more weight to these than to Christian material, but just a little more googling will show how Christians time and again authoritatively rebut every tired old worn out atheist argument.

I was using the “Indignation search” tool in JesOS 8 when this thread by Pastor Isaac Peter’s came up. (The alarm was set off by the word "Tolerance")

The first thing that will strike readers (other than the pastor’s uncommonly handsome face) will be the following
Hans Mattsson was a solid believer and a pillar of the church. He followed his father and grandfather into church leadership and finally became an “area authority” overseeing the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout Europe. […]But when he discovered credible evidence that the church’s founder, Joseph Smith, was a polygamist and that the Book of Mormon and other scriptures were rife with historical anomalies, Mr. Mattsson said he felt that the foundation on which he had built his life began to crumble.
Y’all read that? First he joins, then he gets promotion, THEN he realizes it’s all bullshit!

How dense can this Eskimo be? How many times have you heard, “I didn’t know it was loaded.” Or “Was she really 14?” or “I thought you turned off the electricity.” or "Don't worry, you can pick'em up when they're dead." You would think that before actually committing your soul to a sect of lunatics, you would do a few checks, wouldn’t you?

Now, I had the good fortune to be brought up by a family whose ancestry can be traced to Ablimech Ben Mahershalalhashbaz (Isa:8:1) who witnessed the Crucifixion and the Resurrection, so I don’t need to ask questions.

But others do if they are to disagree with Landover and The Bible.
