Do you regard the Holy Bible as some sort of soap opera? Sure, there is sex, fratricide, drunkenness, murder, war, violence and betrayal between half-siblings, one twin usurping the other's birthright, jealousy between wives and mistresses, a false claim of rape and one woman being done in by the real thing, but a soap opera?

Two things. One: really not trying to pick a fight but America was founded on the basis of core freedoms, one of which is freedom of religion. Another of those is freedom of speech. Without both of those rights no one on this website would be allowed to say anything they are saying. However most of you are against these core rights....and this greatly confuses me. Bit of a catch 22 there.

Two: I find this entire concept unacceptable. One because there are rape victims on record well under the age of one year old. One being a 6 month old baby girl. Am I to understand that you would have a 6 month old marry her rapist as she is not betrothed to someone else? I say not betrothed because Deuteronomy 22:25-27 are as follows:

25But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die. 26But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbour, and slayeth him, even so is this matter:
27For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her

....so I am to understand that if a man rapes a girl/woman who is already betrothed to someone that is wrong....but if he rapes someone who is NOT that it is HER fault...even if she is a 6 month old baby?

ALSO: Deuteronomy 5:21 21Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour's wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour's house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is thy neighbour's.

.....many people would consider thy neighbor's daughter thy neighbor's property. Also what happened to honor they mother and they father.....and I think we were all raised by parents opposed to rape. If you weren't I feel sorry for you. So where in the bible does it say that the passage of Deuteronomy 22:28-29 outweighs Deuteronomy 5 which by the way is the ten commandments....??????

I'm fairly sure the Bible is clear on this one. What does It say?

If it is a six month old baby, the man is likely at fault. No father can uncover his daughter's nakedness. No son can uncover his sister's nakedness.

If they are such bad parents as to let their baby get raped, perhaps they should sell it into slavery. Exodus 21:7.

That is a moral law. Deuteronomy 22 is the practical application of what is to happen when someone breaks the moral laws, i.e. depriving a man of his property.

Why do you sound so confused over that? 6 month old babies aside, you have to keep in mind that if the woman is already engaged to someone, the man has done the wrong you mention a few rows down, of "coveting his neighbors wife" (or at least his betrothed).

What if a non-betrothed female is raped by more than one person.....as in gang rape? Which one gets to marry her? I am simply trying to better understand God's word. I do not understand why I was labeled a "dyke" for simply asking questions. How can I truly walk with the Lord if I do not understand what he wants me to do?

Is it not our purpose to strive to know as much of God's word as possible? I have thousands of questions about the bible. Almost all of them have nothing to do with rape or even sex. I assumed we were supposed to keep on topic however so I am. Long story short my good friend brought up the point to me that her sister had in fact been raped by two men....black men no less........and didn't marry either of them. Now she is a good christian girl who has always followed the Lord and her sister after viewing this forum has questions about her eternal soul. Is that not fair?

I agree actually. Currently however her father is working two jobs after losing a GOOD job for refusing to do business with a group of long haired hippie teenagers in atheist attire. Her mother is very ill and with her father doing all he can to provide food and clothes for his children without compromising his morality they say this is not an option. I was not meaning to "twist scriptures" earlier....I was simply making the point that some situations are more complicated than just one line in theBible. For instance even if it had only been one guy I can't believe that my Lord would want a girl who was rapped by black men to marry him. I also don't want to lose her to the fires of hell. Before the incident she was a very wholesome girl. Her older sister is my best friend and we are both worried about her and her soul.

That new friend was to blame not your friends sister. She is the one that has done wrong. Your friends sister must have friends that are better friends. Does she have her own Pastor she can turn to.
